Sunshine au Fanart collection

Many incredible artists have created fanart of various scenes in the sunshine au. I've collected all the fanart pieces I could find (with artist permission) into an Ao3 work so that all the fanart for the sunshine au is in one place.

Finally my training period is done!

Now the actual amount of time I'm spending at work will go back down closer to what it was last Fall. Basically how my schedule works going forward is I have to meet a certain number of hours, but I get to pick and choose what those hours are. (It's actually a bit more complicated than this, but this is the ten second summary).

It's such a relief to have actual free time back. I'm missed my hobbies. I've been working through my drafts and I think I'm finally getting my writing mojo back!

Currently I'm on track to post the next update of Between Daylight and Darkness in two weeks, February 17. If something happens to change this I'll make another post, and I'll address my posting schedule going forward in the author's notes.

I'll go ahead and get straight to the point, I'm not going to be able to update my fics in January the way I planned.

I've been working pretty much non stop and it has left me no time/energy to write. I had to prioritize my mental health at the expense of cutting back on a lot of the hobbies I enjoy.

Good news, in February the numbers of hours I'm working should go down and I'll be able to start writing at a regular pace again.

Until then , I will be sporadically working on my writing when I can. I'll post another status update on February 3rd once I'm more sure of what my schedule will be like.

So unfortunately no updates to Between Daylight and Darkness or any of my other works until after then.

Sick!? During pride month!? Homophobic!

Sorry folks, likes like the next chapter of BDAD will be delayed at least another week. The draft is finished and just needs editing but I can't stare at a screen while I have a sinus headache 😫

Holy sh*t I think the Ao3 curse is working in reverse on me. Every time I get close to one of my target update dates I get hit with an illness or surprise ✨mandatory✨ training at work. Or in this case both.

So yeah, unfortunately the next update of BDAD will be delayed until later in the week.

The good news, there's another project for the sunshine au I've been working on that I should be able to release tomorrow or Wednesday.

I've reached the point where I've admitted to myself that if I work on all the writing projects that I've got planned, I'm going to end up over committing myself and burning out. So I've got to whittle things down and make a plan.

Between Daylight and Darkness is by far my longest project, regular progress with this story is one of my top priorities. It will be updated every four weeks on Tuesday, next update date March 17.

I've also got this year's Halloween special planned out, it's going to be Halloween in the timeline of the main sunshine au (I did an au of an au of sorts Halloween fic a while back). And I don't want to fall into the same trap with Halloween stories that I have in the past, where I run out of time and end up scrambling. So I'm going to start drafting and working on this story now and post it in October.

For those of you interested, I've also started writing for Haunted Hotel. The stories I have planned are much shorter and fully planned out, so any Haunted Hotel fics will be posted as finished, with no set update schedule.

Lastly, Algea, my Owl House fic. This fic is just as much of a long term project as BDAD, and the way I prefer to tackle long term projects is to chip away at them with regular updates, a marathon and not a sprint. But I've fallen behind on drafting for this fic, and my focus got pulled to other projects. With all the other fics I've got planned doing regularly scheduled updates on two fics would be too much. So I've decided to put this fic on hiatus until November of this year, when the Halloween special is finished and hopefully my Haunted Hotel fics are finished or fully drafted. I'll still draft and edit this fic in the mean time, but there will be no updates until November.

This is my game plan for writing going forward, if things change between now and November I'll make another post.

So close to finishing up the next chapter of BDAD. My job(s) have been kicking my ass and I've got a bunch of boring adult crap I need to get done. I really want to get it finished and out but I don't want to rush and skimp on the quality. So the chapter will be out some time in the next several days.

Oh fuck yeah!

After months of experimenting and trying different recipes I've finally developed the formula for the perfect hot chocolate. As in it is so chocolatey your spoon will be standing up straight. Because this is too good not to be shared I'll list it below.

2/3 cup whole milk

3 heaping tbsp semi sweet chocolate chips

2 tsp dutch process cocoa powder

1 tsp sugar

1/8 tsp vanilla

small pinch salt

Heat in a saucepan over medium low heat, whisking until chocolate is melted and mixture is homogeneous. Serve in an espresso cup topped with whipped cream or a single marshmallow.

Serves one.

I may come back at a later date and experiment with using evaporated milk and adding pinch of espresso powder, but for now I'm going to bask in the success (and enjoy this delicious cup of hot chocolate I've just made).
