If you missed out on WESLEE’s London Love earlier this summer, this fantastic remix of the British duo’s ace R&B/dance single can serve as a balmy reminder to go back and check out the original. In fact, we’ll tack on the lyric video for the steamy sizzling NAO and AlunaGeorge-like song below. UK producer Ben Pearce emphasizes the track’s island breeze on his tropical rework. The euphoria that results is much like dancing the night away in a Mura Masa gone Robin Schulz oasis, with palm trees lit in flashing neon lights and the ocean lapping at our feet over fine, white sand. Crisp snappy beats and sweet, sassy vocals tease the ears and move the feet as we obsess over Obsessed, a club-infused pop single from a producer named CUB, who tapped the vocal talents of UK songbird Clara Hurtado for the release. Obsessed is the sort of coy simmering dance and pop heater that appeals to fans of AlunaGeorge and Nao. A luscious guitar hook, classic deep house vibes, and a pounding bass line embellish this spry strutting, sexy pumping cocktail. CUB, a songwriter and producer known to his friends as Billy, is a graduate of music production. He’s been immersed in music all his life. During his studies, Billy founded In A Box Records and The In A Box Project, which he describes as a “forward thinking music collective, music publisher, record label, & blog that looks to provide resources & support to independent artists.” He cites influences like Mura Masa, Diplo, and Zedd on his songcrafting skills. Sharing an insight to Obsessed, CUB states, “It came together so naturally, it’s starting to feel like a family and that's how it should be.” Stream/download Obsessed, here.

I’d imagine very few of you missed the arrival of a new ZHU EP late last week, but just in case you did, and just because new ZHU is always worthy of much deserved praise, let’s marvel over the enigmatic producer’s latest volume of dark, sultry electronica! After all, we’ve been absolutely spellbound by the San Francisco-native’s music ever since he first released an Outkast cover mashup anonymously. Sure enough, the brilliant spark we saw in that track several years ago has since become a flaming inferno; ZHU is now a superstar. And he’s just dropped a seven track EP named Ringos Desert Pt 1, which can be streamed in full, here. The EP takes us on a journey across barren lands and through magnificent dunes, where windswept beats, howling synths, and rich bass quench our sonic thirst and give us sustenance to survive the wasteland of the arid world. Ringos Desert Pt. 1 even opens with a superb collaboration with Australian singer songwriter JOY. named “Stormy Love, NM”. Her ethereal vocals and tendency for hypnotic haunting music is the perfect fit for ZHU’s inky sleek, glossy opaque house. Catch ZHU on his DUNE fall tour later this year. No Bay Area date has been announced, but we’re predicting a Treasure Island Music Festival appearance considering the tour dates. Find out more, here.

Ever enigmatic production luminary ZHU dropped his new EP Ringos Desert Pt 1 last month, on which he continued to push the boundaries of house music and electronica. We were hoping the new release and the lack of a Bay Area tour date on his fall DUNE tour meant he would be announced as part of this year’s Treasure Island Music Festival lineup. Though we’re rather disappointed that this hasn’t happened, we’re also quite glad that ZHU has dropped a music video for slinky smoldering Still Want U, his song with England’s Karnaval Blues. It’s the second track from Ringos Desert Pt 1, and a sparse misty, spacious burbling dose of deep humming, sensual simmering house hypnosis. Learn more about ZHU’s DUNE tour, here. Dutch production whizzes The Him have been a constant source of electronic ecstasy since we first discovered them several years ago. Even this duo have succumbed to the smooth seduction of the R&B movement at the forefront of the new music scene these days, and they’ve constructed an R&B house jam that’s full on exhilarating and inebriating. White Lies is a smooth pumping, creamy gliding anthem, a synth luxuriant, electro charged anthem rounded out with sexy horns and heavily drenched in 80s vibes. There’s no limit to our love for Captain Kidd, or that’s what we’ve learned over the past two years from the Ohio quartet’s singles. They reinforce our penchant for their pop with recent single LIMIT, a bass pumping house pop jam whose incendiary heat and swaggering beats are like Years and Years with a drizzle of Sofi Tukker’s torrid groove. Desire fueled LIMIT is one to take into the late hours of the night, when you can dance without abandon in the embrace of dark shadows. The sheer amount of renowned talent involved in this next magnificent track is astounding, to say the least. But the fact that I Can’t Hold On involves a huge list of big league artists and producers including GTA, Dillon Francis, Wax Motif, and Anna Lunoe doesn’t muddle up the track at all. A symbiotic relationship seems to exist between the four projects on this dance floor thriller, a four-to-the-floor deep house and R&B dance banger with tart and fierce vocals. The Endorphins is a Swedish electronic project that couldn’t have chosen a better name for themselves. Just like those very same brain chemicals that help us achieve an inebriated euphoria, this sibling duo lifts us towards the heavens with their funky rapturous disco house on their new track, Enough. It’s the pair’s second single, and it’s a chic and stylish banger. Enough is also ridiculously catchy, which isn’t something you can always say about electronic tracks. This one’s going to stick with you, long after you’ve finished kicking your feet all over the dance floor to its plump, succulent beats.
