"He was Trent and there was Ted and there was somewhere to put the love he had hid in his heart."
For Chapter 16 of I Really Enjoyed Getting to Spend This Time With You by @rngaredead 💙
I know I will never do justice to all the heartbreakingly beautiful moments you write for these two. So if anyone stumbles on this and gets intrigued, please head to the story and see for yourself! (You will also see why Ted is without his mustache).
This story has been a beam of light in my dark days for months. As you said, my friend, we all spend time in the dark. Sometimes our light goes out on its own - not because we are powerless and choose to find comfort in melancholy, but because we feel strongly, wired to resonate with all the sadness around as much as with all the beauty, and it all becomes too much. Sometimes our light is taken from us. But it's important to remember that it cannot be out forever, and we can always fight to get it back. It's hard to hold by yourself, and sometimes it would burn our hands, but it would be all worth it. So thank you, @rngaredead, for letting me sit by your light while you tell this beautiful story, and take some of it with me. I won't let it go out.
Now do you all have a story that made you feel like that? Let the author know! Whether you turn to these stories for comfort, or a good cry, or the thrill of exploring the characters through someone else's eyes and getting to see whole worlds built in the process. Fanfiction writers are giving all these gifts for free and deserve all the love back.
I hope you all enjoy this journey with us as it's coming to an end! 💙
(Now a bigger quote from the scene because LOOK AT THIS!!! But also don't look if you want to avoid SPOILERS)
"But there he was—in Kansas with Ted Lasso asleep in his lap, like this was normal and how Sunday afternoons were meant to be spent. He wasn’t Trent Crimm, The Independent or even Trent Crimm, Independent. He was Trent and there was Ted and there was somewhere to put the love he had hid in his heart. Sliding it in between the lines of his book wasn’t actually all that tangible, but saying it, showing it, feeling it was. And while that deadline of being able to do it drew ever closer, in that moment it felt like almost more than enough."
