I'm pretty sure that it's obvious that Ann's outfit was based off of Catwoman from the Batman series or something. Catwoman's outfit is tame compared to Ann's thief outfit, who's got zippers all over her chest and even over her crotch area. She doesn't need a revealing or sexy outfit to follow the femme fatal image.
Yeah. Again, I could sort of understand it if it were actually part of her personality, if her character were actually about reclaiming power and control in her own sexuality after the abuse/harassment from the teacher had made her feel ashamed about it. That might have been interesting and compelling, if still somewhat questionable given the character’s age.
But that also would have been a completely different character, because that isn’t Ann at all. She’s never sexual on her own, she’s just regularly sexually objectified by other characters. And we’re supposed to think its gross when villains do it, but we’re supposed to think its fun and funny when the other party members are doing it, or when the game’s making us the players do it through its framing. I want to like her as a character, there are aspects her character I do like. Whenever the game is letting her just be herself, whenever its letting her take actions based on her own established motivations, she’s a good solid character. Kind. Funny. Just. Motivated to help other people.
But then the game will put her in another non-consensual sexual situation for a joke, or have one of the other characters (usually Morgana) say something lewd behind her back, and I just can’t with any of it. It’s doubly frustrating because I otherwise like Morgana as well, and every time the game pulls this joke it makes me just want to shove them to the back of the party and never use them again.
