To me, in any obkkrn dynamic I write, Rin will reflect Obito's energy

In my books, Rin is THE ultimate Obito supporter (and enabler) She will not only forgive him for all his crimes but also rationalize and brush them off. She actively encourages Obito to be worse because she's out here reassuring him that his behavior is normal and deserved and his feelings are valid— and hey, maybe he should go stalk Kakashi for a bit to calm down if he really feels so offkilter <3

She's just also very well put together and seems super reasonable and normal, so she's constantly being mistaken for the sane one (incorrect, that's Kakashi). People look at her and go "ah yes, the responsible girl of the group. She will keep those boys of hers in line, I'm sure" but NO, she is out here cheering Obito on as he commits war crimes and reassuring him that his feelings are valid while he commits genocide

Anyways, back to my point of Rin reflecting whatever energy she's given: What this means is that when Obito is normal, so is she. This is why we see her as behaving (socially acceptably) normal in modern aus/Obito survived aus/with team Minato; Because no one in her immediate circle is especially deranged/maladjusted, so she's happy reflecting the much more normal energy she's given to work with.

But then we move back towards more canon accurate aus where Obito is off his goddamn rocker and, well, Rin is being given a very different energy there. But she's also just as happy to work off that energy as she would be if it were any other au.

Obito is throwing himself into her room, looking half crazed and about to do something Unwise(tm) and going "Rin I have an idea"

And Rin just smiles and nods, already onboard with his terrible plan as she sets down her book and asks, "Oh! Are we off our meds again? :)"

This is also why she often comes off as so reasonable to other parties, because whenever someone with actual reason speaks with her, she just masks and reflects even harder. She just says what people want to hear. It's great. She's gotten out of so many situations like this. Somehow it keeps working.

She also has this incredible talent for making just about everything she says sound reasonable. Which is also why she's so good at gaslighting people

To me, Rin is a master of boiling frogs in a pot. She is gonna drip feed people (read: Kakashi) insanity in the most reasonable and common knowledge type of voice. By the time they start to actually question the shit she's saying, they're way in over their head. It's good old reliable Rin, after all! She has a good head on her shoulders, that girl!

Anyways. On a related note, I'm actually a really big fan of Minato "something is wrong with that boy" Namikaze. And specifically that he has some sort of personality disorder and works very hard to pass as neurotypical, usually by mimicking people/reflecting whatever energy he's given— much like Rin.

So I think that there's also some fun potential there of Minato and Rin team bonding. Minato having a talk with Rin about how to better mask or smthn because he notices how she behaves similarly to him,,, I think itd be cute and also valuable guidance for her.

Maybe they don't even have a direct conversation about it, but like, just in general I'd love to see Minato and Rin making prolonged deliberate eye contact about it all.

But yeah I love deranged enabler Rin. I think she deserves to properly participate in the obkk insanity. She's fooled all of Konoha into thinking she's a normal little girl, the responsible one, the healer, but she's actually just as bad as Obito— just in a very different font.
