Blogging my way through my PhD in nursing education
If you would have told me 10 years ago I would be applying for or starting a PhD, I would have laughed at your comical punchline while slapping my knee. The idea of me going to PhD school is the joke of course. Yet, here I am, 10 years after getting my nursing license, preparing for my first PhD course. Even though the idea of starting a new blog (yes, first-time blogger here), while working a full-time job, a part-time job, raising my kids, loving my husband, and going to school for my PhD seems daunting, extreme, and excessive, I want to go through it. I would love to have a written progression of my PhD experience to look back on for myself and to hopefully provide inspiration to others. This progression allows for one of the most useful learning tools to be utilized and that is reflection. I have plans to include potential scholarship information (if this is allowed-again newbie here). Join me for the experience ahead. Hopefully this blog inspires other nurses to join the 1% of the US nurse population that hold a doctoral degree (NurseJournal Staff, 2021). Here we go.
