Day 3: I GET ALL THE MOM POINTS TODAY!

We saw Bison, and even better BABY bison (3-4 of them, from rather far away).

I AM the coolest mom ever for taking her to see free roaming bison, close enough to not want to get out of the car. We saw 2-3 big herds of the over 500 head the Nature Conservancy maintains

Saw lots of other creatures to day too:

- donkeys (6 or so)

- horses (in pairs and trips then two whole HERDS of 30-50 on one farm)

- cows (lots) and baby cows (4-6, not enough)

- sheep (a few, all freshly shorn)

- goats (one 50-75 head herd)

- wild turkey (1, in the road, which I almost hit)

- turtle (one, middle of road, status unknown)

- armadillo (one, deceased) Got lots of flower pics for Grandma Partch and Ed. Took some cool aestivation pics too.

stopped at a cute local diner in colorado today!

both of us finally got to try rocky mountain oysters! they were sliced, battered, and fried, and put in a borger bun. they got a thumbs up from both of us (thanks for the bite of sandwich, baby!)

also got to have 'sour cream raisin' pie, which is very delicious, highly recommend

i'm so happy i wanted a bathroom break at the right time, and there wasn't anything else for an hour, so we found that place 😄

Day 1 mini-traumas

1) sinus headache from 7am-4pm (low grade except when peaked at 2ish, when we had some rain showers).

2) Campground couldn’t find our reservation (the only one we have for this trip). After about 10 minutes of discussion, reassurances that it WAS likely them, and anyway a tent spot was available, it was found…listed as already checked in. But no one was on the site…so all sorted, but panicked 5 mins.

3) Both small poles for tent failed. Tent still works, dry etc. but, if it does rain, not quite as good. Need to decide…new tent, replace poles, or cope. Currently leaning towards trying the last 2options 1st…

4) Lost my phone at the camp for about 20 mins. Eventually found somewhere safe, with ringer off.

On the plus side, daughter made friends with 2 Australian kids-In pool, camp playground, and giant checker/chess board.
