NEW VIDEO!!!! Bears, rain and waterfalls, we saw it all in Kings Canyon National Park. We hiked a few trails at roads end including Roaring River Falls, Mist Falls and Zumwalt Meadow. We were so excited to see a momma bear with her two cubs!
We were able to sneak away to the beach yesterday.
I’m sure our stretch of unbearably hot temperatures will come this summer, but so far, Portlanders have been lucky. Yesterday’s high was in the mid-eighty degree range – a perfect reason to head to the beach. Jobs were pushed aside and we drove to Lincoln City to hunt for agates at low tide. We packed a few beers and some sandwiches in our bike panniers and pedaled down the sand to the gravel beds, where we poked around for about three hours in the sunshine.
After the tide turned and we knew the sand would soon be soft, we left. We stashed our sandy gear back into the car and drove to wine country, which was conveniently located on the path home. It was good to sip Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the sunshine at Stoller Family Estates.
Today is an inside day. The weather continues to be spectacular, but I’m enjoying it through the open window as I work on a job. I hope the rest of the week promises to be as good as its beginning.
