just spent half the day hanging out with @decomprosed and @bruisedlotus on the @roadvirusbus! it was really cool getting to meet them (and fulci) and go inside the bus, which is amazing btw. and they even paid for dinner when we went out, which was super nice. I'm just in a good mood :) can't wait for them to come back! thank you guys for stopping by my shitty small town, it meant a lot. <3
After what feels like ten years––though it's only been less than six months since we first picked up Jolene––we're gearing up to launch into perma life-on-the-road.
While this has certainly been a grand adventure thus far, we've hit a lot of holes, both literally and figuratively, and we could use some help.
Mechanical problems arose, as they do, and we had to sink over $2,000 into repairs. Fortunately, we are now 100% mechanically sound (driving Jolene has never felt better). Very unfortunately, this completely depleted our renovation funds (and pretty much all else). We're rubbing our last two pennies together, scrapping to get the reno done so we can get out of Florida and hit the road as a fully-functioning business. Our leave date is set as May 22nd.
So how can you help?
We have a donation page here, with a lot of great tiers: http://theroadvirus.com/patrons/
And a lot of fantastic items, including Road Virus shirts and totes here: http://shop.theroadvirus.com/
After a lot of hurry-up-and-wait, we're excited to get back on the road and bring weird lit to a town near you. If you can't afford to help monetarily, we'd still very much appreciate a share of this post.

Wonderful news: we got accepted for the New England Open Markets Central Flea event! This will be our official grand opening, and we're planning on having Jolene painted by then, so she'll be looking her absolute best. Come join us Sunday June 25th from 11 AM - 5 PM to experience the grand opening of The Road Virus and see our finished renovations, along with live music, food, and 150 other vendors in beautiful Cambridge, MA.
Quick reminder to everyone in Massachusetts: we will be in Cambridge this Sunday at the Central Flea Market from 11AM - 5PM. Our next stop on the 2017 tour will be Portland ME. We've started reaching out to local independent bookstores and comic shops, but if any of our lovely plaguebearers know of a great location in Portland that can house a 32'x8' bookbus, we'd love to be there selling from the end of June to early July. After spending the last few days in Centralia and getting a feel for things, we've decided to take off up north for Massachusetts. The area is amazing, but cops have started tagging cars for parking and people for walking the graffiti highway (which we got plenty of photos of and left our own little marks on, thankfully).
As you all know, we've gone through a lot of trials and tribulations to get back on the road. We've had to do a handful of things haphazardly. We'll be in Mass (Newburyport) for about three weeks, getting some rest, finishing our renovations (a few important things were unfortunately left unfinished in Florida), and mapping out our first official three months as a business.
One of the main things we've wanted to get done is painting the bus (we're definitely not the Perry County public library bookmobile we seem to be), so we're going to try to do that ourselves. Once we have, we'll feel fully functional and comfortable as a business. We'll have a lot of photos and site updates coming shortly.
It's been five months of living and trying to work out of an unfinished bus, and we're looking forward to some downtime to fine-tune Jolene and get her 100% longhaul ready.
As of right now, we don't have any dates blocked for selling while we're in Mass. However, if you're in the New England area and would like to visit or shop, feel free to shoot us an email or phonecall (our contact information is available on our site at http://theroadvirus.com/contact)
