Just a quick note to say we arrived safely in Paris with minimal hijinks.
(We learned that it is important to read the boarding time, not the flight time, on your boarding pass even if they put that bit in SUPER small print. Fun times in Toronto).
Approximately 18 hours of traveling later we are in the city of lights. It’s 6 degrees C here so I’m already missing Vancouver’s freak heat wave. Geo is thriving naturally.
Our flight from Vancouver to Toronto had turbulence basically the entire time. It was awesome. It was like being on a ride. The only downside was the flight attendants got rather testy if you wanted to unbuckle to go to the bathroom. For a six hour flight this posed problems.
The cabin spontaneously burst into applause when we landed without dying. Three cheers for the captain.
Paris is off to a good start though. We were working out our cross street on our way to the hostel and a very friendly lady stopped to offer us directions unbidden. Sometimes it’s handy to have tourist all but stamped on your forehead. After locating the hostel we found that not only were we allowed to check in three hours early for a desperately needed rest, but we got upgraded to a private room.
We can hear church bells tolling from our room which is an interesting accompaniment to our new atmosphere. Europe will take some adjusting too but we’re looking forward to it.
