Just got done reviewing my Spotify Wrapped...
I listened to Mumford and Sons 12000 minutes in the past four months, I'm in the top 0.005% of their listeners this year, 3 out of my 5 top streamed songs are Mumford and Sons songs, they're my top artist of the year even though I only really discovered them at the beginning of June, I listened to the song Delta almost 100 times in the span of 24 hours, and 500 times in total.
When I tell you they're my comfort music... I wasn't kidding~
"When I suffered from a rare form of MTV consumption, and VH1 influenza, listening to this has put me in a simpleton's alternative rock desert where there is nary a sixteenth note to quench my thirst. This pre-Y2K, geocities shitfolk needs to be cast back to hell from whence it came. Which I have the ability to do but it takes a huge toll, both emotionally and sexually. I opened up a portal to music hell once while I was doing circular breathing exercises with Rufus Wainwright in my pool, which I cannot stress enough is a timpani filled with spit valve water. But let's get back to these precum babies. The thought of these 90s hair models gaining access to an orchestra, getting their filthy paws on my silky drawers. The thought of them trying to vape out of the oboe, is enough to make me cancel my lyrics.com membership once and for all. And let me be perfectly clear, I have no time for this condom-on grunge. If I invite alt-rock into my home, I'm gonna want it to break my desktop and eat all my Tostito's scoops, not ask about my mom and sign my guestbook. Fuck this. It makes me want to slash the tires on my car which, let me make clear, are snare drums. If I were to invite alt-rock to a wedding, I want it blowing its nose on the bride's wedding dress, not telling the flower girl what to expect in second grade. You can tell when they ask for a cello via AOL message the studio they spelled it with a "ch." And as someone who has suffered from Cellist Telepathy since childhood, a harrowing condition in which I am thrown directly head-on into the experience and headspace of any strings player, I won't go into the details of the hell that this man that played cello on this went through, but I will tell you i screamed "No!" so loud that I blacked out and came to 48 hours later sitting criss-cross-applesauce on a music stand, and i had signed up for several thousand things on AirBnB Experiences, a dark sign of my mental state. And also financially worrisome because as you know, every cent I make I put towards the hit I plan on putting out on the Chainsmokers. When they are neutralized, only then can I rest. Unfortunately, I now have no more savings, and I will be forced to dance under my stripper name, Timbre." -Rob Moose/Chris Fleming
Sara Bareilles performing “Once Upon Another Time” with Ben Folds, Caroline Shaw and the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Edwin Outwater. _________________________________ Once Upon Another Time Songwriter: Sara Bareilles Arranged by: Rob Moose
Once upon another time Somebody's hands who felt like mine Turned the key and took a drive Was free Highway curve, the sun sank low Buckley on the radio Cigarette was burning slow So breathe Just yellow lines and tire marks And sun-kissed skin and handle bars And where I stood was where I was to be No enemies to call my own No porch light on to pull me home And where I was is beautiful Because I was free Once upon another time Before I knew which life was mine Before I left the child behind me I saw myself in summer nights And stars lit up like candle light I make my wish but mostly I believed... In yellow lines and tire marks Sun-kissed skin and handle bars And where I stood was where I was to be Once upon another time Decided nothing good in dying So I would just keep on driving Because I was free
