Here's a list over issues I've seen Americans have about Robbie Williams and/or Better Man, and subsequently, my attempts at answering them as a humble Norwegian guy who grew up in the late 2000's and early 2010's:

Why is he a CGI monkey? Now I've seen loads of different explanations for this, so I'll try to summarise it for you (even though he literally explains it in the trailer); Robbie Williams is a performer, an entertainer, and due to this he's always felt like a bit of a circus monkey being pulled on stage for a show, combined with people not taking him seriously as a musician. Additionally, he rose to fame with Take That at the age of 16, and partially, due to this, he has felt a bit stunted and less evolved than other people ("but humans didn't evolve from chimpanzees" yes we know). He also said in an interview that he's on the spectrum to kind of bond these things together. Besides, it's an interesting gimmick lol.

Why have I never heard of him if he's "so" famous? Robbie Williams never really broke in the US. Probably just because of differences in the industry at the time, or the fact that his music is often heavily influenced by the europop genre.

So he's famous in the UK, that doesn't make him a worldwide star. You need to stop treating this as a US vs. UK thing. He's not just big in the UK. He's well-known in most of the world outside America (Europe, Asia, Oceania, etc.), take it from me as a Norwegian.

Why do you care if I don't know who he is/if I don't want to watch the movie? We don't. We really don't care. I mean, we were surprised at first that Americans had never heard of him because it's unimaginable to us who have had his music drilled into our brains our entire lives. But we're not angry that you don't know who he is. We're annoyed with and tired of the attitude. All we're asking is for you to have a little bit of decorum and treat the subject with even a speck of respect.

Don't take it personally. We're not. We're just tired of rehashing the same arguments over and over again because you don't know who he is.

You don't have to know who Robbie Williams is. You don't even have to like him. All we're asking is that you have the common decency to listen to us when we do our best to explain it to you because, in the end; you asked.

A/N: it’s been a while, i’m sorry!!!!!

After they got married and went on their honeymoon (somewhere on the coast of Italy in a tiny bungalow with its own private beach), Y/N and Mark moved into two separate places. They both had met their fair share of divorced couples, and those always claimed that if they could have done one thing differently it would have been their living situation.

Over the last twenty years, they have moved approximately seven times. However, they are never too far away from one another. At this moment, they need ten minutes to walk from one place to the other and three if they take their cars.

The woman sighs. Her bedroom is dark and only a bit of light is shining through the (almost closed) blinds into the small space. For some unbeknownst reason, one of the street lamps is right underneath the window. Usually, she doesn’t mind it. After all this time she has gotten somewhat used it being there. Mark hasn't. He always whines about it whenever he sleeps over.

He loves to make witty comments about it too, something along the lines of "one day I’ll fucking toss a stone at it". Y/N would laugh until they fell asleep. Like teenagers, in a way. Yeah, like teenagers.

Right now, however, it doesn’t make it easier for her to fall asleep. It’s almost like it’s her first night trying to ignore it.

They both have their traditions. Like any other couple, she assumes. For example, whenever Mark finishes a Take That Tour he always comes to her apartment first. Always! When the last concert ends, he jumps into the very first plane to return home to her. In some interview, which took place ages ago Gary explained that Mark is almost like a maniac in that way: “He always calls a taxi during the time we prepare for our encore.“ “I have to get back to her.”

He eventually walks through the door, and drops everything he owns, before joining her in bed (considering how he mostly arrives throughout the night). Then Y/N makes a sleepy comment whining about his smell. Tells him to take a shower first. „God, where are your manners? You stink.“ He only laughs and whispers:“ I couldn’t wait…Can you blame me? I have the most beautiful woman in the world waiting for me in our bed… and you’re telling me to take a shower before seeing her? You’re being crazy.” She would giggle like a schoolgirl. Then they’d kiss.

It‘s currently 5 AM. All planes that departed from Brazil yesterday evening should’ve landed in London at around 3 AM. The drive from the airport to her place is 18 to 20 minutes. Mark should be here by now. Next to her. She should have complained about his bad smell two hours ago. Y/N swallows thickly. She feels sick to her stomach.

She wanted to talk to him about it on the phone. About Robbie and the whole movie situation. But Mark didn’t. "I just- I want you to know, that I never cheated on you.“, she explained after a few seconds of suffocating silence:“ Never! I need you to know that. I know this looks bad. But I never did that. The moment we both got together, Rob and… Robbie and I never touched one another again.“ But by the time she finished speaking, he had already hung up on her.

Y/N sighs while slowly sitting up. Something hefty is laying on her heart. It’s been there for a while now. Her eyes shift to her wedding ring, which sits neatly on the small table next to her bed. Mark‘s fingerprint is on the inside of it and the glow from the outside is reflecting on the gold. God, how she misses him.

Suddenly, she hears how someone unlocks the front door and without wasting a second she stands up. Y/N quickly makes her way down the stairs and towards the hallway. And once she gets to the doorframe she makes eye contact with her husband. He puts his suitcase down with peaceful force. The sound of it echoed through the silent apartment. Something is hiding in his gaze; he‘s hurt. There is no denying the truth.

And Y/N comprehends that she is the one to blame for it. They both stare at one another before Mark tosses his keys into a small bowl next to the mirror.

He inspects her features for any other emotion other than remorse, but when he isn’t able to find anything he takes a deep breath:“ The flight got delayed.“ He walks a few steps up to her:“ You were worried, that I wouldn’t come home to you.“ It’s a declaration. He doesn’t have to ask her. After all this time he can read her like an open book. And with one swift movement, he pulls her into his arms:“ Darling, I thought you knew… I always come home to you.“

Ummm, go see cgi chimpanzee Robbie Williams. It's pretty alr (I have been fucking hyperfixated on this movie since I saw it a week ago and haven't listened to anything else other than this films album. Not even joking I have already listened to the entire album more than 35 times, with certain songs like rock dj being listened to over 60 times. I love being normal about things I like)

Half of my TikTok FYP is Americans talking about how they don’t know who Robbie Williams is, and or they don’t care. The other half is British people being mad or defensive about it.
