who would i be without you, without them?
@norahdevore wrote this adorable sickfic with Langdon finally asking for help and getting it because everyone loves him, and I popped in to write a few scenes :)
Here's a snippet, and you can read it here!
"Look, I'm sorry that I fucked up. I'm sorry that I keep fucking up. I'll pick up the kids, and you won't hear from me until I drop them off, okay? I swear." Frank glances down at the dashboard. Call ended.
He's not a bad father. He knows that. Abby knows that. She has full authority to stop him from seeing the kids, but she doesn't. Situations like this happened frequently when they were still together; it was him storing illicit substances within reach of an at-the-time four-year-old that pushed their relationship over the edge.
Frank lets out a deep exhale, followed quickly by a chesty cough that he's had to keep under wraps in the ED. He's been in denial since Wednesday, when he'd first noticed a tickle in his throat. With two doctors and three nurses already out with the flu, his subconscious immediately recognized it as such, even if his higher self continued to reject any notion that he might be sick.
Now, on Friday night, the telltale symptoms are setting in. Fatigue could normally be explained away by his working a twelve-hour shift, but not in combination with the achiness, persistent cough, congestion, and headache.
