Rather than categorize these real world events with inconvenient labels, let’s simply take a look at the facts surrounding the murder of Seth Rich during the 2016 Presidential Election season. We can focus on what actually happened to formulate a timeline of events. Seth Rich works at the DNC as the Voter Expansion Data Director, as a data analyst during the 2016 Presidential Election Season, starting in 2014.

Speaking for myself, I am glad that this information has been archived, seeing as all the escalations with Russia that have transpired since the November elections are dependent upon Seth Rich not having been the leaker… If Rich had been able to step forward and let everyone know that he was WikiLeaks’ source and not Russia, the American people would never consent to these potentially world-ending escalations with a nuclear superpower, and America’s deep state would lose geopolitical power and influence. Can’t have that. Dead men tell no tales. What we’re seeing now is media being used to obfuscate the facts from the general public. The exact opposite of it’s function. Think of how convenient it is to be able to “debunk” any event with no investigation and call any legitimate investigation and “conspiracy theory”. This murder may have been swept under the rug, except for one thing: this is the age of the internet. With data, social media, trip codes, hacking, leaking and more, dead men have plenty of tales to tell. The fact is, someone snuffed out a life, and that life, taken from a man so young, became a line in the sand to those who had already shunned or rejected the media. The voters-specifically, the people who made sure Hillary did not win- do not look for media to report what the truth is. They look at the media to see what the lie is. Lots of Drama at #DEMSinPhilly First Day

It’s not even 11:00 a.m. as I write and already heads are spinning. Did the Russians have something to do with the Wikileaks dissemination in order to help Donald Trump and embarrass Hillary Clinton? Will Debbie Wasserman Schultz really step down or will she gavel in the convention this afternoon? And how upset will Bernie’s delegates be if that happens? Oy, such a morning!

The skies brightened after a downpour. The day is expected to break all heat records, with temps approaching 98 degrees!

We woke up to an unexpected rain storm this a.m., but that quickly dried up and the sun came out, bringing intense heat and added humidity. I headed to the Virginia delegation to see if I could find some of my delegate friends and with the hope that Tim Kaine would show up. I scored with number one, but number two … maybe later in the week. No matter. There was lots to cover. I first bumped into U.S. Congressman Bobby Scott and asked him what he thought of the Wasserman Schultz debacle. “I’m so disgusted with that woman!” he ranted. “She should step down now,” he continued, rather than stay in the lead and gavel the convention to order. “As long as she stays, every story this week will lead with her rather than with Hillary.” Ouch. Good morning, Congressman!

The formal program began with some cheap laughs from VADEMS Chair Susan Schweiker. “I’m sure everyone enjoyed the receptions last night,” she began. “But let’s not forget that back home there are a lot of people who are angry, upset about their situations, and depressed about what’s going on in our great state. But enough about the Republicans.” (Big laugh) Schweiker introduced Brandon Davis, the DNC’s chief of staff, who welcomed the delegation, talked about “putting Progressive policy in play across the country” and skillfully avoided talking about the Wasserman Schultz fiasco.

Then, in what was an unfortunate example of how corporations are now openly currying favor with political parties, a representative from Altiva, the rebranded Phillip Morris Corporation, welcomed the delegates and received their thanks for providing them with their morning breakfast. I about lost the eggs I had started to shovel down. Then I saw my friend from Falls Church, Virginia, social justice activist Stephen Spitz, a Bernie delegate, who was not-so-quietly cruising the back of the room in shock calling the Altiva folks “murderers” and questioning how they ever got a place on a Democratic Party podium.

The real fireworks started, however, when Governor Terry McAuliffe showed up. The guy is such a font of energy, like a Fourth-of-July sparkler that never goes out. He milled around in the crowd as the Secretary of State of Kentucky, Alison Grimes, warmed up and woke up the room.  “I’m preachin’ to the choir, y’all,” she drawled. “Can I get an ‘Amen?!’” She did. Then Terry got up and lit up the room.

His spoke passionately about the “terrible decision” that the Virginia Supreme Court handed down on Friday, just before he left for Philadelphia, striking down his Executive Order to restore voting rights to more than 200K citizens who had committed felonies and had paid their debts to society through prison and parole. The court suggested that the state constitution only allows for individual clemency, not mass clemency. “Forty state executives have already done what I did,” McAuliffe implored. “Why does Virginia always have to be toward the bottom when it comes to these types of issues?” No matter. By the end of the week, McAuliffe will have signed orders restoring the voting rights to all 13,000 individuals who have already registered to vote since his order was announced in May. “And the rest will be handled in short order!,” he proclaimed to cheers. “This isn’t a political issue, it’s a moral issue.” McAuliffe cited Virginia’s 1902 Jim Crow constitution as having deliberately targeted felons, a disproportionate amount of whom are African American, as having been an attempt to disenfranchise an entire class of citizens. He lambasted the Republicans who brought suit against his executive order and the judges who went along with their “twisted logic.” “If that’s how they want to play,” McAuliffe shouted, “Game on!”

VA Governor Terry McAuliffe spoke with reporters after addressing the VADEMS delegation. He batted down reports that he’d have a place in the new Clinton administration. “First we have to win!” he told them.

After checking off many of his administration’s accomplishments, including reducing unemployment to 3.7 percent (“3.7 percent!”), he lamented the fact that he could not convince the Republican-led Virginia Congress to pass Medicaid expansion. “We have already forfeited $7.9 billion in federal funds that could have come to our state and helped more than 400,000 have health insurance!” he bellowed. “This is why elections matter!”

The Governor then turned his attention to the Convention and glowed as he announced that “I’ll get to announce that we’ve just nominated the first woman to head our party’s presidential ticket.” This qualifies as news, since the DEMS have yet to release a list of speakers (other than the headliners) who will appear on the stage during the next four days. And the convention starts in just a few hours! Yikes!

Once McAuliffe left the stage, all the air went out of the room. Susan called for a break and I sauntered over to the PA Convention Center where a media briefing was underway. Clinton Campaign Director Robby Mook and Press Secretary Brian Fallon were going on about the Russians and the Wikileaks scandal that has the Bernie folks hopping mad. Mook reiterated his statement, which he said was picked up from the experts who study these things, that the Russians were, indeed, involved. He cited reports in both the New York Times and the Washington Post. When asked about why Wasserman Schultz, who had resigned yesterday, would be allowed to gavel the convention to order and cause rancor among the troops, Mook demurred. “That is what the Congresswoman has said she will do, and I think we have to take her at her word.

Whew! What a morning. I’m off to catch the bus to the Wells Fargo Center for this evening’s activities. More later ….
