new intro style, here we go! it's time to visit the iconic broke family and see what they're up to!

family bio:

The Brokes are a sweet, if struggling, little family. Now that Bobby’s about to head off to college, will Brandi and Charlie finally get some work done around the house? Willi, at the very least, is excited to not have to sleep in the hallway anymore.

Charlie Tang

A former restaurant host from Downtown, Charlie gave up a stable income and a decent apartment for a family life with Brandi and her kids in their too-small, claustrophobia-inducing little trailer. When questioned, he’s always said that he doesn’t regret that decision… so far.

Brandi Broke

Friendly by nature, Brandi has often been accused of being overly so. She enjoys grape juice and crumpling tin foil, when she can afford to.

Robert Broke

The youngest son born to Brandi and Skip Broke, Bobby grew up being showered with love from his mom and brothers, and sneers from his peers at his family’s poor status. He’s sworn to someday turn those insults into fear and awe.

Willi Tang

Aside from an addiction to books and a strong sense of righteousness, Willi considers herself to be quite normal. She likes watching pirate movies with her big brother and his girlfriend, Idalia.

Doing as his mother had advised, Peter sat beside his father and initiated conversation. It went better than he’d expected; his dad was capable of speaking his mind, after all.

“I dream of seeing you in college”, he said. “You and your sister. Your mom and I are doing everything in our power to give you the best education and resources. It was much harder for me when I was your age and I want it to be better for you.”

“I know, dad, and I'm really thankful. I study as hard as I can.”

“We see that, son. You’re the best son we could’ve gotten.”

“And how’s your job, dad? In the entertainment track?”

“Well, you know, I had to quit recently.”

“You what?!”

“I was just too burnt out. Handling the shop and my job... At least now I can completely focus on my paintings and selling them.”

“But it’s your dream!”

“Sometimes life has other plans for us and we can’t fight them. Besides, I have other priorities now. You. My family.”

Everything was going well with Brandi's visit to Robert's family until she mentioned Dustin. They might have tried to hide it, but she noticed something was up.

It was just hard to agree with the compliments she gave him when they knew the truth.

Broke Family - Intro

Poor Brandi. Young mother of two boys, recently widowed, and now expecting a new arrival. How do you not feel for her?

Brandi Broke nee Newbie is the daughter of Bob and Betty Newbie. They are the Sims from the tutorial house in the first game. In this game, Brandi married Skip Broke and had two boys with him. Dustin is the older teen who is heading down a bad path in the criminal career. Young Beau is the toddler who Brandi wants to rear in the right path. 

Shortly before the game begins, the Brokes suffered a tragedy when Skip drowned in their pool. The game describes it as a “suspicious” pool accident, so that will be leaving an interesting theory for the players to decide. Brandi is now left to raise Dustin and Beau on her own. And to add to that mess, Brandi is pregnant with Skip’s baby. So the family has some challenges to face. 

I play with a mod that has pregnancy run for 18 hrs. With that mod, Brandi is already an hour away from giving birth. In the vanilla game (no mods), Brandi would not be getting her first bump until later on. She will be pregnant for 75 hours before giving birth.

Teaching Beau his toddler skills will help him reach a platinum level. This is beneficial for him to grow up well. Brandi had just finished teaching Beau to walk, so now she is trying to teach him to talk. 

Unfortunately for them, Brandi went into labor. 

Brandi gave birth to a boy who I named Robert, in memory of her father. I am playing with a clean template, so here, Baby Broke is linked with Skip Broke, therefore, he will not be a clone of Brandi. Baby Broke will also have a 50% chance of being a baby girl. Here, Baby Broke was born with Brandi’s black hair and Skip’s blue eyes.

Dustin comes home from school and Brandi goes to scold him for his bad grades.

Poor Dustin. Right in front of his girlfriend too.

This is Angela Pleasant. She is known to be a goody-two shoes and perfect daughter in her household. Which is why it is ironic that she is dating the bad-boy Dustin. 

Here they share their first kiss together. 

Dustin also wanted to teach Beau how to talk. Despite his bad boy attitude, Dustin does adore his baby brother very much. All he does is for his family after all. 

I do feel bad for little Beau, since his crib is out in the living room and the phone kept ringing. I do want to remodel the place a tiny bit with what little funds we have. Perhaps selling some of the expensive stuff might do the trick. 

The one who kept calling was Angela. She asked Dustin if he wants to sneak out with her at 1 am. 

Remember she is the good daughter.

Late that night, Dustin snuck out with Angela. Unfortunately for him, the game is scripted for him to get caught by the police. 

Brandi is called out on her parenting. 

And that is the end of the Broke round. They are a challenging family to play, but that is how I feel about families with toddlers in general. 

Bonus: 

Imagine getting a call from one of the neighborhood burglars and he asks for your teenage son?

Unfortunately, Robert isn’t handling two shops and a regular job very well. He decided to quit his job and focus solely on his family’s business.

Also, he’s cut his hair, let a beard grow and changed his normal attire a bit.
