To Catch a Thief premiered in Los Angeles, CA on 3 August 1955.
John Michael Hayes adapted David Dodge's 1952 novel for the screen, and the film reunited Hitchcock with Grace Kelly (in her 3rd and final film with the director) and Cary Grant (in his 3rd of 4 films with Hitchcock).
Despite mixed reviews, To Catch a Thief was popular at the box office, and received 3 Academy Award nominations, including Best Costume Design (Edith Head) and Best Art Direction. Robert Burks received the Oscar for Best Cinematography (Color).
