God, okay but the McClure expedition being the opposite of the Terror's premise that in the face of hardship there is brotherly love etc

Instead it's the darker path, it's full blown insanity and despair and darkness

The hope is not in salvation, because McClure never becomes the better man like Crozier does, instead it is in the absolution that he may never be forgiven, but at least understood
