Robigo Deos was a Chaplain, turn Apostle, of the Word Bearer Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Much of his time during these eras were spent in the Death Guard Legion Warrior Lodge, acting as a Master of the Faith in Erebus’s stead. His daemonic ascension came during the time of the Beast where great visions drove him to self-infection with Nurgle’s Rot to become a Herald of the Plague Farther.
It is common for those who can overlook his blighted form to see the Apostle’s presence always feels more like that of a caring preacher than a warrior of the astartes or of the Ruinous Powers. This is further added to by his more joyful personality, causing even the brutal Khaalzahak to chuckle on one occasion.
Appearance
More like the corrupted kin of the Death Guard than the Word Bearers, Deos’ mutated form is clad in a modified suit of Mk III armour with a legion style Mk IV helm. His armour is clad in his legion’s gore colours with midnight grey shoulder pads and iron trim.
Similar to warriors of Nurgle in his service, Robigo has attempted to cover over most of his mutated body with his armour to prevent difficulties with environmental or hostile difficulties. This has been successful in most areas with just his right leg bursting out into a mutated mass, restrained by a crudely formed restraint.
His image behind his armour can be partially assumed by his bulbous growth from his leg but none have seen him since his corruption. During the days of the Legion, he had his body etched with the markings from the Book of Lorgar and his face was said to be similar to that of his gene father but after his apotheosis he has not been seen beyond his armour.
Some more conspiratorial members of his warband have suggested that he hides himself due to a shame as to the form he now has, further demonstrated by the binding around his bloated shin.
Personality
True to his legion and gene father, Robigo Deos is an astarte with a fanatical and charismatic mind, if very devious. While not as scheming as a tzeentchian or as brutal as a Khornate, he continues to hold the entire pantheon of the Primordial Truth in regard despite his personal ascension at the hand of Father Nurgle.
Holding strong ties to his past, Robigo is rather nostalgic from the times of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Not only does he take pleasure in discussing these times but he has taken to structuring his Warband after impressive elements from each of the Traitor Legions. This glorification of the past has also influenced his rule in a strategic sense, using tactics derived from the Shadow Crusade to guide his forces.
Wargear/Equipment
Bolter
Similar in style to that of the corrupted 14th, it has become part of Robigo’s ethereal nature, allowing him to summon and dismiss it at will as well as not depend on material ammunition.
Great Plague Cleaver
Beyond minor carvings in the haft of the weapon with carvings from the Book of Lorgar, Deos’s Cleaver is near identical to others within the Death Guard’s arsenal. It is able to damage with prowess unexpected from such a corroded weapon and Deos personally wields it one handed to facilitate the use of his bolter. And similar to his bolter, the weapon is summonable at will and just as easily dismissed.
Powers and Abilities
Master of the Blight Winds
Despite opinions about the arcane arts, Deos has been granted the sorcerous boons of the Plague Father allowing him to sew plague into a battlefield with a thought.
Daemonic Astarte
While not brought into princedom, Deos is still daemonic in nature. While it does make his ability to exist in the mortal world difficult without a weakened warp zone, he gains the extra resilience from having so few ways to reliably be slain.
Minor Lore
During the time of the Crusade and Heresy, Deos found a far greater affinity with the legionnaires from Barbarus as opposed to Terra.
His replacement of a crozius dates back to the time of the Crusade where he would prefer to carry a ‘useful’ weapon such as a power axe or sword. He did show an interest in the spears of the Emperor’s Children but was never able to retrieve one before his ascension.
Heralds of the major Gods, the Dream Heralds are specially forged beings to support the efforts of the Everchosen of Chaos.
Unlike the other cases of mortals and daemons cohabitating a body, the Dream Heralds interact with Kallig’s soul in a more symbiotic than parasitic. Not only able to empower their host but power can be transferred between the different heralds.
Most times, Kallig’s malignant empowerments are shrouded by psychic wards built into his mask and the constant casting of cantrips which have become akin to breathing in the recesses of his mind. This gives the image of a simple, if powerful, psyker but close examinations or a lowering of these wards brings the malignant power forward.
While just a title from when their names weren’t yet revealed to the fledgling Everchosen, the title remained in their shared lexicon. Initial meetings with the entities were done during Kallig’s sleep. Even during the modern era, sleep is the best medium for reliable communication with the heralds beyond small comments.
