Hey! Thanks so much for sending this in, but Robin's powers don't exactly work in that way, so I'm not exactly sure how to whump her by enhancing her powers. Thank you though, I really appreciate it!! You're the first person to send something in for this :D
Kyle has asked your OCs to help him out by volunteering at his nonprofit! How do they help out? (i.e. donating supplies, childcare, cleaning, food prep, helping Kyle get people out of bad situations, etc)
Thanks!
Rae: Getting people out of bad situations, particularly domestic violence situations. Her natural protectiveness paired with her shields makes a pretty powerful combo there
Robin: Honestly, she'd probably hop around to help with whatever little tasks she can find. Cleaning here, childcare there, ASL interpreting whenever another Deaf/HOH person comes in, just finding anyway she can to keep busy
Madison: She'd probably hold some sort of class on survival skills and foraging! She figures at least some of the people who come through are unhoused, and while she might not be able to offer a whole lot, she can at least teach them some strategies for keeping warm and finding food around their area if they're really caught with nothing else.
Ophelia: Massive amounts of monetary donations from Denarii's resources, even more donations of food, toiletries, and other supplies, and she'll make an appearance herself to help with any tech repairs (and just to be an extra set of hands for whatever task they need a little more help with). It's a bit of positive publicity for Denarii, sure (I mean, they did stem from OsCorp, they're still working on building up a decent reputation), but she also genuinely wants to help and knows she has the means to do so.
Gia: She'd struggle to leave her shop to volunteer for any long shift, but she'd donate what she can and would make it clear to Kyle that her shop is available as a safe space if anyone needs a place to crash for the night. She even develops a sort of code word with him, where any customer who comes in looking for a "Spencer's Bouquet" can hide upstairs with no questions asked, and she'll make them a lunch before they leave.
Jasper: Medical help, for sure! You don't know how many people come in with infected wounds, sprains, or even more severe injuries that they've ignored simply because they don't have the money to get it treated. Anything Jasper can help with, they will.
Katherine: I mean, she'd show up just to be an extra set of hands - making lunches, passing out supplies, cleaning up, whatever they need for her. She doesn't have a particular venue or skill, but seeing as Bastet is the god of domestic protectiveness... Katherine works a 12-hour-shift and still feels perfectly healthy the whole way through, and she seems to have a way of putting people at ease when they're around her.
Kestrel: I'd say food prep! They're not a chef by any means, but they can handle getting some food prepared- and honestly, they'd prefer to be working "behind the scenes" like that, since there's still a part of them that feels like people would refuse their help if they found out Kestrel was a changeling.
Quinn: Probably something on the simpler side, like passing out lunches to the people in line; something that means she can help, but doesn't have to be on her feet for long. Though to be honest, this isn't really her style in the first place. She's more into gung-ho activism, we'll say.
Eris: They'd only agree to volunteer if Rick dragged them into it (not that Eris wouldn't help, but he wouldn't be the one to volunteer for something so purely altruistic), but if they could be coaxed into it then she'd absolutely agree to go get people out of bad situations- through any means necessary
Nikoletta: She'd do whatever needed doing, passing out lunches or cleaning up or whatever else, but I think after a while she'd just be the one going around to comfort the families and just speak to them for a while. It seems out of character for her, and more vulnerable than she usually allows herself to be while in public, but she's relied on food pantries and general goodwill a number of times in her own life, and she knows how that feels.
Jimmy: Childcare! He doesn't mind being left with the kiddos for a little while, especially if he just means he can just entertain a group of them with storytime for a while so their parents can get the rest sorted out.
Vivienne: I mean... charities like that didn't exactly exist during her time, and there are a number of reasons it probably wouldn't volunteer for something like that (the first in my mind being that the domestic abuse cases would hit a bit too close to home for her). If she were obliged to help in some way, it would probably just leave a donation of whatever it could.
Spider: Literally anything. He's diving headfirst into helping, no reservations. He donates some money and whatever supplies he can spare, and he's the ball of endless energy during his volunteer shift: passing out meals and supplies, cleaning up, entertaining the little ones, just generally trying to make people's lives a little better. He's absolutely wiped out the next day, but he regrets nothing
Terra: Sewing new clothes, or mending the clothes people bring it - it's what she's good at, and it's a valuable skill in this circumstance
Pluto: General tinkering and repairs: cell phones and other tech, home appliances like microwaves and refrigerators, even a few vehicle repairs here and there. Whatever he can get his hands on, he'll fix
St Pats is coming up, do your OCs do anything for it?
And how does Gia specifically deal with the holiday? Do people come in asking for clippings or arrangements using her clover, because it's obvious quality...
Well Talk Shop Tuesday is now Talk Shop.... Almost Saturday, whoops.
Admittedly I'm a little low on brainpower for this one so you're going to get the abridged answer.
Robin is the only OC of mine that comes to mind who might have St. Patrick's Day plans, and I think the extent of those plans would either be 1. She and Sean go back to visit their parents and have a pseudo-family reunion or 2. She and Sean cook up a WHOLE lot of Irish food and attempt to introduce the kids in the X-Mansion to the holiday (in a kid-friendly manner of course)
As for Gia, I think she used to prepare pots of other clover (not her own) ready-made for customers to purchase, and if anyone made a stink about getting that clover instead of clover off the wall, that was their problem. But that's also a lot of work and a lot of stress for Gia, so I think in the end she just decided to have her shop closed on St. Paddy's, just to save herself a dozen headaches over whiny customers.
Thank you for the ask!! Sorry I missed this earlier, it's been a hell of a week
Siv has challenged your OCs to a drinking competition- however, they are not informed beforehand that she's a metahuman and could drink them all under the table without breaking a sweat. Who accepts? Who figures out Siv's secret? And who goes home wasted?
Ooooooh fun!! Thank you!!
Rae: Refuses, not because Siv's a meta but because Rae doesn't drink.
Robin: She knows a speedster when she sees one - her partner, and soon-to-be husband, is a speedster too. So... she knows from the moment Siv sits down that she'd lose that bet, but she might have a couple drinks just for fun.
Madison: Hm... this could go either way. She's not likely to get drunk in front of a stranger, she's got too many issues with vulnerability for that, but at the same time, she's very competitive and would immediately see that in Siv. Still, I don't think she'd be comfortable drinking in front of Siv until they were close friends, and by then she'd for sure know Siv's a meta.
Ophelia: She's not normally one to get absolutely trashed, she's more a "glass or two of wine with dinner" kind of gal, but she just can't turn down a challenge like that! I could see her at least starting the competition, though she'd call it off once she realizes Siv is unaffected - no point getting horrifically wasted once she knows she's going to lose. However, if we're going with the canon that Siv and Ophelia are friends, she'd refuse because she knows Siv doesn't get drunk.
Gia: Nope. For one thing, she's had problems with alcohol and other substances after getting away from HYDRA, so she tends to steer clear of that now. And for another thing, even if she did agree, she'd be anxious that this was some kind of plot to get her drunk and helpless.
Jasper: Eh... pass. Jasper doesn't like alcohol much, it affects their empathic sense in a way that's very uncomfortable and overwhelming. They might have a drink or two on a quiet night alone with Kyle, but alcohol in a group or public setting isn't happening.
Kestrel: Hah! Joke's on Siv, Kestrel's got a little trick of their own: increasing their own body mass until they're nearly as impervious to alcohol as Siv themself. There's a bit of mutual confusion as to why the other one is holding up so well as the competition continues, but neither one's going home horribly drunk (at least... as long as Kestrel remembers not to shapeshift back until the alcohol leaves their system, or they're in for a rough night)
Katherine: Well, Sekhmet's wheedling at her to participate, offering to grant her godly strength so she wouldn't get uncomfortably drunk or hungover the next day, but Katherine still refuses. Not her thing - not when it means riling up the goddess known for getting riled up over that sort of thing, and not with the spark she can see in Siv's eyes.
Quinn: Accepts, gets horribly drunk, needs Billy to carry her home. By the time she realizes Siv's still not acting tipsy at all, she's drunk enough to assume her hallucinations (plus the intoxication) are just playing tricks on her mind.
Eris: Accepts, and matches Siv drink for drink. They can't get drunk either, at least not on regular Earth alcohol. And honestly, bring in some of that Amazonian wine or other metahuman alcohol and they'll kick Siv's ass - both having more body mass and having more experience being drunk, even if they're a few centuries out of practice.
Nikoletta: Hard pass. Similarly to Madison, she's got too many issues with vulnerability to consider being drunk, especially in front of a near-stranger.
Jimmy: Accepts, because why not? If she hasn't realized he's a ghost and can't get drunk either, that's her problem. He's too honest of a man to put money on it, but if it's just a non-wagered challenge then he'd be down for the game.
Vivienne: Accepts - it can't get properly drunk either, even outside its siren form, and this wouldn't be the first time she'd been faced with a wager like this. Unlike Jimmy, though, Vivienne is quick to put money on it, since it's got a hell of a history draining sailors of their pocket money in drinking games like this.
Spider: Drinking games have never been his thing. He'd offer to buy Siv a round or two, and maybe even suggest karaoke or dancing instead, but he just doesn't find a drinking competition fun enough to participate.
Terra/Pluto: Grouping them together since the answer's basically the same. They might agree, but it's more likely not. Alcohol and other downers aren't really their taste.
Your OCs have been cursed by an evil wizard to have Rapunzel-length, uncuttable hair. How are they coping?
Ooooh fun!! Thank you!
Rae: Eh... she's not freaking out or anything, but this definitely isn't ideal. It's heavy, it's in the way, she keeps tripping over it when she tries to spar... she's finding some way to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Robin: Her hair is pretty coily - does that mean "Rapunzel-length" when it's fully pulled straight, or "Rapunzel-length" as it sits naturally on her head? Bc those are two VERY different lengths. If its the former, it's not great, but maybe somewhat manageable. If it's the latter, she's having a bad time.
Madison: Hey, it just says "uncuttable". If Alex burns it off with one of his plasma beams, that doesn't count, right?
Ophelia: She's probably already trying to find some loophole. That's how she'd approach it even if it were fairly manageable, but her hair is very thick and very curly and she really can't afford to keep tripping over it with her bad knee and all.
Gia: Actually not that badly! It's not like she goes out very much, so she'd just try to keep it off the floor or get it in some big Rapunzel-style braid and she's actually not too badly off!
Jasper: In a word... yikes. Their hair is one of their biggest sources of both dysphoria (when it was long) and euphoria (when they first cut it), so having long hair that they physically cannot cut is just a recipe for disaster. Plus, they can't skate with that.
Kestrel: Eh, their hair's already pretty long, and they can probably find some way to shapeshift it away (either directly, or through some loophole like making the individual follicles extremely small but still proportional in length)
Katherine: Similar story to Robin and my other OCs with coily hair, this really depends on what that length translates to. It's a lot of hair either way, but one is a much worse situation. She'd probably try to magic it off - or if it gets really annoying, Jace might even convince her to let him try to burn it down to a reasonable level.
Quinn: Uhhh.... that's an interesting one. She'd get a brief bout of gender euphoria, simply just from the association of long hair with femininity, but after that it's really just annoying as hell. It's heavy (and she's already got back problems), she keeps tripping over it, it drags sand fucking everywhere... they're trying to find some way of pulling it out without scalping themself in the process.
Eris: "Uncuttable"? I'll show YOU uncuttable!! Though legitimately... if Eris can't find some enchanted blade strong enough to cut that hair, they would probably end up just biting the bullet and cutting through their scalp, and hoping it regenerates with normal hair instead. Self-preservation is really not a word in Eris' dictionary, we know this.
Nikoletta: Again, similar to Robin and Katherine. Could be bad, or could be way worse - and either way, she's probably trying to find some loophole or solution to it. Maybe Cleo's rats can chew through it, and that won't count as "cutting"?
Jimmy: Look, I'm not neglecting the boys here, but... what? How? He's not even a living person. His hair doesn't even grow. I'm a little stuck with this one.
Vivienne: In the water... not too bad. It's heavy as hell when it's wet, but she's also got some siren-strength behind her. And in the water, it's just kind of floaty and weightless... like I said, not too bad. On land it's another story, but it would probably just avoid going on land if that's the case.
Spider: I can't decide whether he'd have a lot of fun with that, like finding a way to use his hair as his own belay rope, or if it would just be annoying. Seeing as he's a speed climber who mainly does auto-belays rather than toprope or manual belays... I'm leaning towards annoying. (can you tell my job at the climbing gym is rubbing off on me? lol)
Terra: Similar story to Madison or Ophelia, she's annoyed enough to start coming up with loopholes right away - and if she can't, Pluto will.
Pluto: See above. He'll find a way to get around that "uncuttable" thing one way or another - the hair itself doesn't even have to irritate him all that much, he just wants to find a solution because he can.
Rae: Mince pie (a tradition for her - every year her family has a reunion for the New Year, and every year she stops at a pie shop to bring them mince pies)
Robin: New York cheesecake (her favorite - Peter brings her a slice when she's having a bad day <3)
Madison: Assorted Christmas cookies (she loves baking, and will make loads of baked goods to give out around the holidays. it reminds her of her family!)
Ophelia: Cannoli (she and her mother would make them from scratch, particularly as a celebratory dessert for her father when he received a new grant or scientific accolade)
Gia: Vasilopita (Greek New Year's cake, her grandmother would make it any time her family came to visit, regardless of the time of year, because "it's always a holiday when my family visits")
Jasper: Beignets (sounds like a cheap answer considering they're Cajun, but it also symbolizes their first date with Kyle [and a very cute chapter of Heartstrings too, I must say])
Kestrel: Challah (they grew up in a Jewish family but ended up falling away from that after shedding that first persona, and lately have been trying to reconcile that side of themself now that they're more comfortable with their identity as Kestrel)
Katherine: Tiramisu (her favorite, particularly from the local Italian bakery she loves. Also represents her first date with Ahk)
Quinn: Lemon meringue pie (one of her favorites! There was a pie shop across the street from the hospital she stayed in during her recovery, and her favorite nurse would bring her a slice of pie whenever she reached a new milestone in PT)
Eris: Ma'amoul (traditional dessert from the Middle East, they'd be familiar with similar recipes from Themyscira)
Nikoletta: Pie, any type (...just go read my fic The Facts Were These. You'll get it ;) )
Jimmy: Hermits (cookie bars dating back to the 1800s, most popular across New England, able to be made with few and inexpensive ingredients)
Vivienne: Hot cross buns (served across Europe for centuries... also the pastry she's referring to in The Shroud of Morning when she's trying to convince Wojchek to buy her a pastry :D)
Spider: Imarti (fried sweet from India; he can remember his mother making them for him and his sisters as a special treat from time to time, and his dad teasing his mother by calling them "Indian funnel cakes")
Your OCs are walking home when they see a young woman stumble out of a dilapidated building, covered in blood and bleeding from where her ear used to be, eyes wide with panic as she mutters to herself about something being in her head, and that she somehow survived... something. It's Noura, having barely survived the experience that hallowed her. How do your OCs react?
Ooooooh hell yeah!! This is neat! Thank you! Not answering for everyone since I don't have the brainpower rn lol, but here are some highlights
(sorry if some of these answers are a little vague, I haven't gotten the chance to listen to Silt Verses so I'm still not sure on the details of how this works)
Rae: Takes a minute to look things over, then goes up to Noura and tries to coax a little more info out of her. If there's a threat inside that building, Rae's always willing to jump into the fight, and if there's not, she needs to get Noura to a hospital or find someone to call for her.
Robin: Assumes Noura's a mutant who's come into her mutation late and in some harrowing way, and tries to calm her down while Robin gets in touch with Peter and Charles.
Ophelia: Similar to Rae, she won't hesitate in going up to Noura and trying to sort things out, and depending on how close they are to her lab, might bring her up to clean up her wounds and record some information. In a situation like this, Ophelia probably isn't diving into the fight before she's got at least some info, so her focus is mainly on calming Noura down and getting more details from her.
Gia: She takes one look and starts walking the other direction. Nothing about that looks good, and nothing about that seems like something she wants to be involved with.
Jasper: Immediately shifts into medical-mode, and is entirely focused on Noura's physical and mental wellbeing. They don't care what happened, at least not in anything more than how it influences treating Noura's injuries.
Kestrel: Chooses the subtle approach - rather than approaching Noura directly, they'll shift into a small animal and try to scout out whatever's inside that building. Their next action depends on what they see, but that's where they'll start.
Katherine: The only OC of mine who genuinely understands what it's like to have godly beings infiltrate your mind - I think on some level she recognizes what's happened, even if things took a different form for Noura than it did for her, and she'd want to try and guide Noura through the experience as much as she can. If her magic doesn't bump heads with Noura's, she might even try to summon some healing or calming magic to help steady her.
Eris: Is immediately on guard, especially since he can sense some kind of powerful energy radiating off of Noura and the building behind her, along with a lot of lingering conflict. She seems to be the victim here, so they're not just going to outright attack her without warning, but they're definitely tense and waiting for the fight to break out.
Ok ever since I sent out that "what your characters would say is their favorite thing about their partners vs. their actual favorite" ask to a few friends I've been wanting to do it for my own OCs/ships so here goes:
(long and somewhat sappy-romantic post ahead, you've been warned)
____
Rae Would Say: Warren's eyes
Her Actual Favorite: The moments when he shows his gentleness and kindness in subtle ways, like offering to help carry a stranger's groceries out to their car for them if he sees them struggling. He doesn't always believe he's a good person after what he's been through, but she loves to see how kindness still seems automatic to him despite that doubt.
Warren W. Would Say: The way Rae puts her hand on his back, right between his wings, when she comes up behind him
His Actual Favorite: How unbelievably dedicated she is to protecting the things she loves - it can border on dangerous and that scares him, but he's also included in that list and it makes him feel valued and wanted.
____
Robin Would Say: How Peter can turn anything into a good time
Her Actual Favorite: How much focus and attention he gives to her, especially when it comes to things like learning ASL or helping her through her TBI recovery. She knows slowing down isn't easy for him, but it means a lot that he's willing to take the time to learn and support her.
Peter M. Would Say: Robin's singing voice
His Actual Favorite: Genuinely her singing voice, though really it runs deeper than just liking the way it sounds - it's tied to how they first met, he finds it calming and just hearing her sing can make him happy after a bad day, and it's even more special since it took a while for her to start singing again after her TBI
____
Madison Would Say: The way he always has her back
Her Actual Favorite: The way he makes her feel at ease - it takes a lot for her to genuinely trust someone enough to let her guard down all the way, and she loves that she can relax around him.
Alex Would Say: The little fascination she has with his hands (she'll just reach for his hands and start kind of...fidgeting with them? He finds it wildly endearing)
His Actual Favorite: The way she unconsciously leans into him even when she's asleep - like she knows it's him and trusts him even when she's not even awake
____
Ophelia Would Say: The way she can joke with him
Her Actual Favorite: The way he really understands and empathizes with what she's been through, even the dark patches of her life
Peter P. Would Say: Her intellect and quick wit
His Actual Favorite: Similar to Ophelia's actual answer, the way she understands the dark parts of his life and helps him move past them
____
Gia Would Say: Kate's laugh
Her Actual Favorite: The way Kate doesn't judge her for her anxiety issues or illness flares, and the way she'll try to rearrange the plans to accommodate them so they don't have to cancel things entirely
Kate Would Say: When Gia gets a little flustered- it's just adorable!
Her Actual Favorite: The way Gia's willing to expand her comfort zone for her... that's not easy for her and Kate knows it, and even more once she has the context for everything Gia went through before, so it means a lot that she's willing to expand those boundaries.
____
Jasper Would Say: How he's always there for them - even when they've had fights, he always shows up when they need them
Their Actual Favorite: Same as above, but with the context that their dad got into an accident just a few days after Jasper and Kyle got into a big fight, and Kyle still showed up and drove them across three states so they could be there for their dad- he really does show up when it counts
Kyle Would Say: How they don't flinch at the bad times, they just take it all in stride
His Actual Favorite: How unafraid they are to be themself - it takes a lot of guts to be openly alt and openly queer in Louisiana, especially while still being a part of female-dominated spaces like nursing and roller derby, and he respects the hell out of them for it
____
Kestrel Would Say: His eyes, they're that gorgeous hazel color that reminds them of autumn leaves
Their Actual Favorite: His confidence, both out in the field and in their relationship. He's steady when Kestrel falters, and that's what they need sometimes.
Warren B. Would Say: Their adaptability and problem-solving
His Actual Favorite: The place they've found amid his family - his family is everything to him, and so is Kestrel, and he's grateful to see them find a home with him.
____
Katherine Would Say: His chivalry, he's always such a gentleman
Her Actual Favorite: She really does love his chivalry, he treats her with so much respect and she always feels incredibly loved and valued
Ahk Would Say: Her creativity
His Actual Favorite: How open-minded she is - and not even about the magic itself, she's just always willing to learn more about the people around her, and she never has judgements about their experiences
____
Quinn Would Say: How he notices all the little details
Their Actual Favorite: All the little things he does to support her, and how he genuinely enjoys doing those things for her - it's never a burden to him, he just wants her to be happy and will do anything he can to make that happen
Billy Would Say: The way she looks, he just thinks she's stunning
His Actual Favorite: How they've always got each other's backs, he can always count on her to watch out for him, to have a backup plan ready if things go wrong, and to trust her when he's not sure who else to trust.
____
Eris Would Say: His body - they'd insist it's a purely physical, carnal attraction
His Actual Favorite: How Rick seems to see her as more than just a weapon or an embodiment of chaos, he seems to genuinely value them as a person and see the depth that others - even Eris themself - tend to miss
Rick Would Say: Those quiet late-night moments where Eris allows himself to be soft
His Actual Favorite: The little moments when Eris proves they care about him - tossing his favorite snacks into the grocery cart, stashing an extra mag in their armor pouch so he doesn't run out of ammo, the rare moment they openly show that affection in larger ways, etc.
____
Nikoletta Would Say: Abner's gentleness
Her Actual Favorite: The way he always seems to notice when she needs attention or support, even when she's bad at noticing that for herself. He's good at pulling her away from her self-destructive and isolating spirals
Abner Would Say: *wouldn't actually be able to articulate any verbal thoughts, it's too on-the-spot and too personal
His Actual Favorite: The way he never feels like a burden when it comes to her - he's able to speak his mind, he's able to express his wants and needs and have those things actually met instead of ignored, she remembers his routines, etc.
____
Jimmy Would Say: Lars' intelligence
His Actual Favorite: The fact that no matter how much of a workhorse Lars can be, and no matter how much he might put up a show of being annoyed when Jimmy tries to coax him to take a break, he always does put a bookmark in his work if Jimmy asks. The theatrics are just for fun - he knows where Lars' priorities really lie.
Lars Would Say: Jimmy's genuine kindness and generosity
His Actual Favorite: His intrinsic love for humanity and the people around him, no matter their background - not only surprising for a man of his background, but refreshing against a world of cynics.
____
Vivienne Would Say: How strong and competent he looks when he's working on the ship
Its Actual Favorite: His pet names for her - she finds them endearing, for one, but it's also reassuring to have those little reminders of how he cares about her since she didn't get that affection or respect from her first husband
Wojchek Would Say: Her stories
His Actual Favorite: How transparent it is - it wants something and it tells him without waiting for him to guess, she tells him she loves him all the time, she might enjoy playing with language but she's very clear about what she feels
____
Indigo Would Say: How well-spoken he is
Her Actual Favorite: Just how much he cares about her - maybe that feels cheap, but for someone who's been on her own effectively from the beginning, there's something incredibly valuable about everything he's willing to do for her in both the big gestures and the little moments
Hux Would Say: How she's so unafraid to be herself
His Actual Favorite: How she's always seen him as more than his past or his reputation; he can't change the past, but he's trying to be better, and her faith in him helps him fight for that.
____
Prometheus Would Say: His voice
Their Actual Favorite: The way he always reaches for them. He's always got an arm around their shoulders, a hand on their knee when they're sitting down, an excuse to hold them when they take a break for the night... it's like he always wants to keep them close.
Corinthian Would Say: Their dedication to what they do
His Actual Favorite: The fact that he's not exempt from their protectiveness if he were to harm the dreamers they defend - it seems a little backwards, but to him it helps keep things grounded, and it reminds him that they really see him for what he is and not just some romanticized image of him.
____
Might add Spider and Terra later on, but I don't have a firm grasp on their relationship dynamics just yet.
