Story:
They were good parents. At least, that’s what Robinmask believed for the longest time. They laughed with her, spent meaningful time with her. But there were those moments where her mother or father would make her upset, and when that happened, she would remember all the times before then in which they left her disheartened.
She remembered the many times she, as a kit, ran crying to her mother because Waspkit had once again teased her, only for her mother to say nothing but ‘just ignore him,’ or ‘go away, I don’t care,’ if she was in a really bad mood.
She remembered all the times her mother somewhat supported her sexuality, positive for it but with many moments of ‘well, it might change in the future,’ and ‘maybe you won’t always be like that, don’t close off your options.’
And when either of them made her upset, they would get upset with her reaction, becoming angry instead of apologizing or simply discussing it with her.
Her father was annoying in a different way, easily angered as well, but when he noticed he made Robinmask upset, his attempts to soothe her only had the opposite affect. He would make jokes that would make her cringe, say words and make sounds that made her misophonia spark.
And it felt as though he wasn’t trying to make Robinmask feel better to make Robinmask feel better, but to please Marigoldfur.
With every moon, it felt like the bad moments outweighed the good, that the happy times were blips.
That is why she let her mother die.
It wasn’t intentional, not really. But when in the midst of battle, she saw her mother surrounded by three warriors, her paws were rooted by indecisiveness. Save her or don’t. In the end, she didn’t.
Part of her had feared she would come to regret the choice, that her grief would become worse with her guilt, that she would remember all the good times and forget the bad.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. Now, she could only remember how loving Marigoldfur had been, how caring, and how devastated she must surely be in Starclan because of the daughter she had loved.
When it came to her father, she figured she was putting him out of his misery, or maybe that was just an excuse so that she didn’t have to see him or his despondence any more and relive what she had let happen.
He would be happy to see his mate again.
When he fell sick, she offered to bring his medicine, only to subtly swallow it herself on the way there and pretend to feed him. He was too delirious already to notice. Sure, it made her nauseous, but it was worth it.
Unable to bear her own thoughts, she always kept herself distracted, working harder than anyone to hunt, fight, repair the dens, or do pretty much anything at all. Inadvertently, the hard work would earn her position as deputy.
Having the position itself lasted quite a while, only ending when Robinmask’s paw slipped from beneath her during a battle, and an enemy’s claws, aiming for her face, instead slashed across her neck.
Additional Information:
--Were her parents actually okay, or is she simply upset because, abusive or not, it’s the only parental relationship she had?
Badger's tail (Mini comic)
I did this because I want to put a tail on Badger😅
Dragon (UK): Why is blood so hard to wash off your hands?
Dragon: ...I just realized how bad that sounds. I had a nosebleed! I’m not a serial killer!
Sausage: But we both know that's not quite true.
Badger: Hydrogen peroxide dissolves blood, just for your information.
Robin: Do you think if you gave someone a huge shot of hydrogen peroxide straight into their bloodstream it would kill them?
Harlequin: This house is filled with murderers...
Y’all didn’t ask for it but here it is. My first fanfic on this site.
(Y/N)‘s POV
I stand, leaning on the bathroom sink, clutching it for dear life. Tears speeding down my face as if to escape the pain that I’m feeling. I have long forgotten to stifle my sobs as they flow freely from my mouth. My phone screen shines brightly as it lay on the counter, I glare at it, hoping it’ll suddenly disappear and what transpired earlier was nothing but a fever dream. But alas, such things can never be.
No ones POV
The soft and periodical thud of feet echoes through the hallway. Buffaloman and Robin Mask make their way down, chatting about something and nothing. They pass the shared bathroom when Robin suddenly stops. “Do you hear that?” He asks. Silence fills the air as harsh intakes of air and sobs muffled by the door cut through. “Is someone crying?” Buffaloman almost snorted. If it was let out that someone was crying, they’d never live it down. Robin knocked twice on the door.
“Who’s in there?” A voice responds, obviously trying to hide the fact they were crying “it- it’s (Y/N). Do you need me?” The voice managed to breath out the sentence before taking a sharp intake of air.
(Y/N)‘S POV
“You sounded like you were crying, are you okay?” Robin spoke, he always did have this air of gentle brilliance about him. Knowing when to push people past their limits and knowing when not to. “Yea... I’m fine. Just finishing up” I have no time to make myself presentable, I’ll just have to wing it and hope for the best.
I unlock the door and open it. Robin and Buffaloman tower over me slightly as I’ve never been the tallest compared to them. “See perfectly fine!” I smile slightly and look up at them. They stand and stare, almost as if unimpressed. “Not convincing?” I grimace slightly, of course they’re not convinced, they’re not stupid. I feel a hand rest on my shoulder, it’s Robins. “I know things can be tough but if you ever need someone to talk to I’m here and I’m sure the other members are happy to help to.” His voice is soft and almost understanding. I breath out a sigh through my nose and just nod. “Thanks.”
Robin in turn nods as well and turns to walk away, Buffaloman follows suit. I watch them walk away before breathing the biggest sigh of relief and saunter off to my shared shared bedroom.
Time skip still (Y/N)‘s POV
It’s night time and everyone but myself is asleep I’m sure. I just can’t get to sleep, no matter what I do my body just won’t sleep and I think it’s because of what happened earlier today, what with the crying and everything. I decide to head to the common room where I can make myself a tea and calm down. I quietly shuffle around the small kitchen area, the boiling kettle is the only noise to fill the air. I take my cup and sit on one of the sofas scattered around the room. I close my eyes and take deep breaths.
I hear the common room door open slowly and in walks a tall figure, I’m currently sitting on the sofa that’s on the same wall as the door so they haven’t seen me yet. I take a closer look at the figure to reveal that it’s... Buffaloman?! What’s he doing up so late? Caught up in my thoughts, I don’t notice the sofa dip down until Buffaloman’s gruff voice rung out. “What’re you doing up so late?” It didn’t sound mean like I’m used to with Buffaloman but more curious. “I just couldn’t sleep that’s all.” I softly speak, looking into my tea. “Well I’m just checking, you didn’t seem fine earlier. What was that about by the way?” He huffed, there’s the Buffaloman I know. “It was...”I trailed off, the memories of what happened coiling around my mind like a snake ready to strike. My grip on my cup tightened as my brows furrowed, a hand one more rested itself on my shoulder, snapping me out of it. “Hey, what’s wrong?” This voice was a-lot gentler, almost as if he knew what was going on.
I proceed to tell him everything that happened, taking pauses to sip my cooling drink. By the time I’m done, tears has started making their way down my face again. I’m suddenly pulled into a muscular side as Buffaloman gentle hugs me slightly.I can tell it’s the best I’m gonna get and I’m okay with that. “I did not know and I’m sorry. I take it you know that the rest of the muscle league members that are here will have to know right?” His side contorts as he speaks. “Yea, I suppose it can’t be helped.” I sigh and slightly sink into his side. He huffs out a chuckle and we sit in silence for the rest of the early morning, I must have dozed off sometime because when I awoke I have been moved into my bed. I smile softly and smile a bit. Perhaps things will get better.
