((Just now, a “Robot” called my house. I put that in quotations because it was pretending to be human. “She” asked for my mom, who isn’t even in the COUNTRY right now.
When I said “May I ask what your calling for?” there was a pause and then “She” said “It’s okay, I can talk to either one of you” So, I was all “Shut up, robot” and hung up.
I hate robot calls. if you are going to call my house, have a human on the other end.))
So I got a call from an 888 number I didn’t recognize, then I got a text transcript (from a service I turned off years ago??) of this bizarre voicemail:

So I go over to Google Voice and listen to it. This was just about right. It was like if a spam email was read to you out loud by a robot that almost managed to pass itself off as a lady.

Times have changed.
Today, it’s estimated that over a hundred billion junk calls are made every day, including many “robo-calls”—automatic calls made by spam companies.
Over the past ten years, only a hundred and one cases have been brought against those companies, or about ten cases per year.
So I just got a robo-call from the American Petroleum Institute trying to urge me to sign some kind of letter against something or other Obama is doing.
I thought robo-calls were illegal? Like, if you're going to waste my time you had also best be paying a human being to waste theirs?
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is saying he did nothing wrong by ordering robo-calls about a fellow councillor.
Rules? What rules? He's above all that.
