RoboCup!
Really big throwback. A million years ago when I was a wee tot, I used to participate in the high school division of RoboCup which was a contest that aspired to forward humanoid robotics through robotics soccer, rescue, and dance. The robots are always super cute. Look at these grown adults with their adorable robots. I'm sure much has developed over the million years I last watched, but back in the day, robots would often fall over after kicking a ball. Adorable. I sometimes forget that maybe I am living a childhood dream I had. I think I've shared some things in the past that suggest art and science are somehow opposites, but they're really much more alike than different and I've always enjoyed the intersection of both.
Computational architecture as well, also the intersection of art and science. That said, I do tend to like the intersection of art and science in a sort of not useful way. Why do we need robots that can play soccer? Not sure. Why do we even need humans to play soccer? Mystery to me. Fun though! Also sometimes there is a lot of not fun in the process of getting to the fun end result, and I am not always good at enduring the not fun. It is what it is.
