Kenaf rescue robot (2007), Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo), Chiba Institute of Technology, in collaboration with Tohoku University, the University of Tsukuba, Okayama University, AIST and NICT, Japan. Kenaf was winner of the mobile performance division at the 2007 RoboCup Rescue world championships.
"The Kenaf rescue robot was developed for the purpose of conducting rescue operations at actual disaster sites. The distinctive features of Kenaf are the crawler enclosing its entire body and the four sub-crawler arms that are each controlled independently. These mechanisms and its low center of gravity enable Kenaf to exhibit outstanding travel performance over rubble." – Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo).
