Well we’ve reached this video. Which is one of the early Phil videos that I’ve seen both frequently and recently. Because Phil with tarot cards is kinda scary. 👀 Here we go...

At 3:27, this is the longest video so far. Seems so strange, compared to the usual length of 10+ minutes today.

0:06 - the rare sarcastic Phil with annoyed face

0:22 - what a face. But unexpected noises in the night are the worst, for sure

0:29 - this is the first time he talks about the Big Brother auditions in a video. I’m pretty sure he mentions it at least twice more, adding a bit more info every time, especially post coming-out.

0:50 - Phil’s descriptions of the “typical” BB people is kinda interesting. He classifies himself as a “strange” person. and says “really camp gay people,” which is a stereotype I don’t think he would say/agree with now.

1:09-1:36 - compare his producer questions story here and how he didn’t get picked to move on vs. the more truthful story he tells in Coming Out - 1 Year Later about accidentally outing himself and being so scared that he ended up not wanting to be on the show. Poor Phil. 😔

1:40 - 12 years later, smell-o-vision is still not a thing, lol

1:45 - I can’t believe how much Phil got recognized from that one commercial. Did it play constantly on TV, lol? “Fun-barrassing” is a great word.

1:56 - more Faintheart talk! He did seem to have a great time doing that movie.

2:25 - and here comes the part of this video everyone remembers.

2:36 - Phil doesn’t seem to take it too seriously at the start.

You could pretty much make anything fit if you look back on it afterwards.  The past one - “and careless” - the BB auditions; the current one - “a dangerous 3-way relationship” - there was the whole charlieskies thing in early 2009 right?; and the future one...well, obvious. And I mean, if you go by the “next month” thing it’s not so accurate in the end.

3:04 - “the knight of wands” *dun dun dun*

3:13 - the little “hmmm...interesting” and face Phil makes here sends me. Oh Phil, you have no idea what’s coming! 🥺

3:23 - “I’m gonna go change the world in ways you could not believe.” You really are Phil. 😊 What a video ending.

The whole Dan matches the knight of wands description a little too closely is quite something. The skeptical part of my brain is of course, like, ‘hindsight is 20-20′, of course you can make things match up. That’s pretty much how these things work. BUT STILL. The later videos where Phil does tarot cards are also a bit scary.

10 years ago today Phil predicted Dan in his tarot cards. A whole decade.

And yes he really did change the world in ways we could not believe. I guess he couldn't either.

This will always have a soft place in my heart.

A very solid Moment(tm) that always gets me a bit :’) is an old Phil video where he did his first tarot card reading? And basically predicted his meeting with Dan? Idk but that just always makes my heart go soft, esp at the end of the video where he also goes (faux dramatically) “I’ll change the world in ways you would not believe” like uggggh yes yes you will Phil you have no idea

ROBOT DEATH MACHINE IS ONE OF THE MOST DEMON VIDS OUT THERE like idc what you believe in terms of tarot or predicting the future but phil literally predicted dan coming into his life. And do not even get me started on the “i’ll change the world in ways you would not believe” like yes philip michael lester you absolutely did and you absolutely continue to do so that whole vid was a gift
