Robot and Frank 8/10

A special one for me as it was the first I ever saw with my girlfriend Sarah. Most of the time I was trying to “netflix and chill” as the saying goes so didn’t see much, I jest, I’m actually a gentleman and we enjoyed the entire presentation. Wonderful it was too, Frank is gifted a robot as he is getting old and old people are idiots who can’t take care of their own needs, pathetic. Won’t happen to me! Luckily the robot, initially rejected by Frank, begins to prove very useful in a “this wasn’t intended” sort of way but alas I shall reveal no more for fear of spoiling said cinematic presentation. If you like old people meet robot and become close type shit you’ll get your rocks off over this one.

ROBOT & FRANK - Jake Schreier

Siamo in un futuro molto prossimo e c’è quel bacucco di Frank Langella che si sta rincoglionendo, allora il figlio per non sentirsi in colpa che non ne ha mezza di andarlo a trovare gli compra un robot/maggiordomo per fargli da assistente ma alla fine il robot e il vecchio Frank si mettono a fare dei furti.

I luoghi comuni affrontabili in un film simile ci sono tutti, all’inizio il vecchio è diffidente nei confronti del robot, poi i due pian piano trovano punti d’incontro, poi si mettono a fare balotta seria e immancabile il finale strappalacrime.

Ma se te la devo dire tutta il film funziona, ha un sapore amaro ed è girato in maniera esemplare, prima o poi mi ci incazzo per il fatto che ogni cosa che presentano al Sundance alla fine mi piace.

Chiudo con la riflessione che secondo me Frank Langella nella vita reale è più rincoglionito del personaggio che interpreta nel film e ho dei dubbi sul fatto che sia mai stato giovane..

Ah c’è Liv Tyler…ma tanto ormai non se la caga più nessuno!
