"It feels so decadent to be able to eat like this."
Fresh meat, hot and hawked by loving sellers, roasted fruits and vegetables -- even cheeses! And breads! Rachel is unafraid to show her what some may call "comedically large" appetite, happily piling as much food onto a platter as she can (she'll go back for more in a bit).
Affluent as her upbringing may have been, nearly all food was artificially created, brined, canned, hyperprocessed, carefully monitored: she can think of only having had fresh strawberries once, and fiddlehead soup another -- as a very, very small child, the memories of their flavors long-blurred into her mind like something half lost. Instead of mourning this, she'll happily learn new flavors here; meats shimmering with grease and sauces, roasted cheese-stuffed vegetables on a skewer, some kind of rice and ground meat situation rolled in edible leaves. Ah, wondrous.
One hand points toward the nearest ingredient stand: she thinks she's eaten at least three of the honey-roasted pears from there.
"The roasted pears are delicious! I've never had a fruit so fresh and sweet."
