This is my Oc Robyn Wilde! I've posted about her life in university, but she has some really important lore when she's 27 years old.
In 2033, Robyn is falsely admitted into a psychiatric hospital (or insane asylum idk) for almost a year. Not due to being "dangerous", because she was inconvenient, loud and didn't behave the people expected her to.
At first, she treats the psych ward like a badly run system that she can outsmart. She jokes with staff, ragebaits other patients, and assumes if she just behaves logically, someone will notice the mistake. That doesn't happen quickly.
Over time, the environment changes her.
She becomes more cautious. She stops trusting authority entirely. She shows less physical affection and asks more questions than answers.
Robyn learns how power actually works in the ward. She figures out who gets excused, who gets punished, and how trauma is selectively believed. She despises taking medication because she knows that she doesn't need them. Sedatives make her feel empty, Stimulants make her completely reckless. Mood stabilisers do the opposite to what they're intended to.
Kate (18 F) is the first person who she genuinely bonds with, anxious, withdrawn, and fragile in a way Robyn feels instinctively protective over. Preston (20 M) is timid and dissociative, frequently targeted by Ryan (24 M), a violent, sadistic patient who's behaviour is constantly normalised by staff. Robyn openly intervenes, which can get her punished because "it wasn't SELF-defence". Delilah (30 F) is social, sometimes gossipy and emotionally unserious on the surface, becomes a good friend of Robyn's. Robyn will be supportive until she crosses a line, at which point Robyn knows exactly how to push back. Mitch (45 M) operates in the background, trading favours and information; Robyn never fully trusts him, but he helps her, and she helps him. By the time Robyn is released, she's still playful and sharp. However she trusts people less, sneakier and disturbingly aware of how cruel systems can be.
