Cannons in my writing and things to know:

Below is some of the things i tend to keep cannon in my writing but these can differ depending on the readers house and storyline (mostly for hp fics):

If the reader is Hufflepuff they are always friends with Jess McConnell and Cedric Diggory (Golden Era), or Amos Diggory and Alex McConnell (Marauder Era)

If the reader is Slytherin they will usually be friends with Timothy Greengrass and Joey Taggart (Golden Era), or Regulus, Barty, Evan and Pandora (Marauder Era)

I won’t write Marlene, Angelina, Pansy or Astoria as villians, they may be in the story but I refuse make them toxic for the sake of it

Cedric won’t be used as a way of making people jealous, I see that used alot plus I really like Cho and Cedric so i prefer to write him as a good friend/brother figure

Neville and Luna are always sweeties

Marlene and Dorca are always iconic queens

In non-voldy universes Peter is the cutest and sweetest marauder (aka the loveable weirdo)

Could I request something where the marauders help the reader when they pass out?

I passed out recently and I was thinking of how they might help if someone did pass out.

You’d had the worst day, first you slept in and missed breakfast, gotten detention over lunch for being late, almost blown yourself up in potions and on your way to dinner tripped and skinned both of your knees.

Your knees ached as you trudged to the common room opting to head in and patch up your knees before going to get food “Hey darling” you hear Sirius call out as you entered the common room but as your head darts towards them you start to feel a little funny, eyes having trouble focusing and head feeling light

“Hi” you say quietly a small smile you think grazing your face

“Love are you alright?” Remus says but you barely resister as your legs feel weak, slowly feeling like the floor is becoming wobbly

Your lack reply concerns them, James standing up and walking up to you “Doll?…Doll!” he says with a hint of worry before he repeats it louder almost like a cry as your legs give out, luckily, he’s quick enough to catch you

“Jamie” you say weakly, the other two are by your side quickly but you can’t see the look on their face or what they’re telling you as you lose consciousness and pass out in James arms

“Y/n” James says as he collapses down onto his knees still cradling your body, shaking you lightly as he tilts you face to him

“Y/n please wake up” Sirius says kneeling down as does Remus both looking worried

“They aren’t waking up” James says half hyperventilating

Remus places his hand over his squeezing it “Calm down Prongs we can’t help them if we panic” he says but from his tone it’s clear he’s trying his best to hold it together

“Y/n?” Sirius cups your face “What do we do?” he asks uneasy “Do we take them to the hospital wing?”

“I don’t know…maybe we should take them to our dorm, they weren’t at breakfast or lunch today so maybe that’s the cause” Remus suggests shrugging lightly as he stands up, Sirius following suit

James nods, scooping you into his arms and carrying you carefully up the stairs, as they get to their dorm he puts you down on the first bed which so happens to be Remus’ “I’ll run down to the kitchens to get some food…pads you mind helping me I’m gonna need two hands to bring up four meals” he turns to the raven-haired boy

Sirius looks at you worried, apprehensive about leaving you “Fine but we need to be quick”

“I’ll take care of them” Remus nods to the other twos

As they leave Remus sits on the side of the bed taking your hand in his, scooting up the bed slightly to he’s half sitting up next to you. He gently rubs circles into the back of your hand with his thumb for a few minutes before he places a kiss to the top of your head, jerking a little as you stir “Y/n” he shifts down so your eye level, watching you scrunch up your nose as you come too

“Remmy?” you ask unsure if it was his voice you heard or just an hallucination

“I’m here” he gently cradles your face and you’re greeted with his warm smile as your eyes flutter open

You pinch the bridge of your nose “What happened?” you ask tiredly, too weak to sit up

“You fainted” he explains grimacing ever so slightly as he worries “What happened?”

“I haven’t eaten all day and I fell earlier” you start to explain before letting out a sigh “Remmy I’ve had the worst day” you practically fall into him for a cuddle

He instantly accepts it, arms carefully wrapping around you, shifting gently upward on the bed to make it more comfortable for you both “I’m here now love, Pads and Prongs have gone to get you some food…Hey!” he reassures you before greeting James and Sirius as they enter hands full

“Y/n!” Sirius lights up quickly placing the food down before sitting on the other side of you

You turn around lazily “Hi Siri” you greet him before looking over at James who’s putting down some food but holds on to a bit and brings it over sitting next to Remus “Hi Jamie”

“Hi” Sirius leans over placing a kiss to the side of your head “We brought you food darlin”

“Yeah here…if you want to of course doll” James holds the food, waiting patiently as Remus helps you sit up so your back is against the head board before handing it to you

“Thank you” you give them a smile before taking little bites, still leaning into Remus while Sirius takes your spare hand in his

“Feeling better” James asks leaning over to rub your leg softly

You nod “yeah…thanks boys” you say smiling at each of them

“Anytime doll” James squeezes your leg softly

“Of course, darling” Sirius lifts your hand kissing your knuckles

“Always love” Remus kissing the side of your head

Chapter 6: The Project

Remus Lupin x fem! Hufflepuff! reader

Summary: Y/n, Remus and Sirius start work on their charms project, while Sirius is off finding a book Remus finally gets alone time with his bookshop girl

a/n: 3.9k words, I’m really happy with how this turned out, until now i had had at least part of each chapter written so this was completely fresh x it’s very Sirius, Remus and y/n focused so i hope you enjoy 💛

You leaned on one of the columns just across the library entrance, looking down as you tapped your feet on the floor. You were a tad nervous about spending the next couple hours with Remus and Sirius, but after the stunt Alex just pulled, you were sure nothing more could happen that would be more embarrassing than the whole school hearing your friends decide a new nickname. You were pretty sure you were going to murder Alex for that one, especially when a Ravenclaw winked at you and said ‘you can be my sunshine anytime’ as he passed by, the ordeal making you leave lunch early.

As you dug the sole of your shoe into one of the grooves of the floor you wished you had brought a book with you, normally you did but due to the mornings chaos you forgot so instead you settled with daydreams. Until now you didn’t know if he would like you back, but after this morning all you could think about was him calling you love and with that little bit of hope, your head filled with a fantasy of Remus confessing to you

While you were caught up in your fantasy you didn’t notice Sirius and Remus rounding the corner, both of their lips tugging up as they see you and involuntarily stopping to admired you. The way the light hit your face, the cute faces you made as you pondered whatever it was you were thinking about, it was just you being…you, and both were more than content watching it

Remus begins to walk again but Sirius stops him, hand moving to hold his chest back “Hold up a minute” he says quietly as not to attract your attention just yet

“What?” Remus shrugs looking at his friend confused

Sirius turns to him “We need a game plan…” he starts trailing off as Remus cocks his head, eyes pointing to his chest “…oh” Sirius chuckles removing his hand

The boy smiles a second before he questions Sirius’ choice of words “Game plan? She’s isn’t quidditch” he says a little annoyed at the thought of you being a game to his friend, but were you a game or something more?

Sirius eyes him “Figure of speech Moons” he shakes his head “Anyway, what I meant is we’re going to spent 2 whole hours with her and I don’t want to mess this up” he sighs looking over at you while Remus lets the last bit play in his head, I don’t want to mess this up?

“Pads” he hesitates “What do you mean mess it up? I thought she was just…just a…umm” he didn’t want to finish that sentence and he felt guilty for even insinuating it

Sirius turns back to him looking a little hurt which made only made his guilt swell.

The raven-haired boy was a little offended, he understood it, he did pursue anything with legs, but hearing it from his one of his closest friends still wounded him. Had he not proved to Remus that he was capable of more than just physical attraction? He tried not to dwell on it, Remus was always more direct near full moons but the boy couldn’t help but wonder if something else was going on with him, he had been acting a little off since last night

“I don’t know what she is” he says honestly after a few seconds of silence “I just know I want to spend time with her and figure it out. I need you to help me find out more about her, you’re similar to her…and I don’t want to…” he doesn’t finish the sentence but Remus knows, you don’t want to mess it up like you did with me

Remus had never felt more conflicted and confused in his life. He loved Sirius, not the way he did last year but he did, he cared for him deeply and he would always help him. He knew from James how much Sirius regretted what he did and there was still a lingering sting from it but he had forgiven him, moved on. He was enamoured by you, it wasn’t love yet but the start of one, the same fuzzy feelings he once had whenever Sirius looked at him now flooded his chest when you did.

He was at a crossroads, which potential love story to end before it started, his own or his best friends, tell Sirius you were bookshop girl or stay quiet. But maybe there was a third option, let you decide, spend time with you and see which one you gravitated towards. If himself then Sirius would most likely step back, maybe even realise you were just a friend, he said it himself he didn’t know what you were yet. If you choose Sirius then Remus would step back, the thought made his heart break but for once in his life he had to let himself be hopeful, you did remember him after all, either way you were always going to be his bookshop girl

“I’ll help” he concedes giving his friend a smile

His eyes light up, giving the boy a quick hug “Thanks Moons. Let’s go meet our little puff then she’s waited long enough” he says gesturing for him to follow, my little puff, Remus can’t stop himself from correcting him

As he approached he was still thinking, if Sirius did end up seeing you as just a friend, then he asked you out, get to know you…and then tell you he was a werewolf down the line, reveal he was a monster…Godric shut up, he scolded himself knowing that right now was not the time to let himself go down that road

You heard footsteps but it wasn’t until you saw two sets of feet stopping in front of you did you look up, catching Remus’ eye first then Sirius “Hi” you push yourself off the wall beaming

“Hey darling” Sirius greets you first, smiling away

You look towards Remus who has the smallest of smiles, eyes seemingly tracing your face “Hi…” he starts glances to the side refraining himself from calling you ‘love’ again “Y/n”

He regrets it right away as your smile falter “Umm…should we get going? I have potions in a bit” you say eyes flicking towards the library entrance

Sirius nods “Yeah, course” he heads into the library followed by you and Remus closely behind

As you walk yours shoulder brushes with Remus’, the first time he gives you an apologetic look, but when it happens again both of your hearts were racing, even more so as your fingers were centimetres from touching. You wanted his fingers to reach yours, wondering what it would feel like to hold his hand, little did you know he felt the exact same

The boys sit down at a table in the main part of the library starting to take their stuff out while you stand awkwardly, you hated this part of the library, it was always so loud, so many people passing through constantly

“Remus, Sirius” you gain their attention

Remus’ face dusts with concern as he sees you shaking ever so slightly “Yeah?”

“You alright?” Sirius asks noticing how your eyes are darting around and the way your hand rubs your arm for comfort

You take a breath gathering your confidence, you hated being a bother “Would you mind if we sat somewhere else? It’s a little crowded and noisy here” you ask timidly tugging your bottom lip between your teeth

Remus nods right away “Sure” he gives you a small smile “Do you want to lead us somewhere specific?” he tilts his head

“Yeah” you confirm

Remus gives you a reassuring look as does Sirius, both picking up their stuff “Lead the way” Sirius motions for you to walk, he and Remus following as you lead the way through the many rows of bookshelves

Sirius’ fingers trail over the books mindlessly, looking at all the different colours and designs while Remus’ looks a little puzzled, sure he was in the library a lot but he didn’t know there was anything down here. Although it was Peter that plotted the library for the map as he could do it faster as a rat so maybe he missed it

Eventually you came to the end of a row of bookshelf’s, hitting the outer wall, turning right as you came out. Sirius and Remus shared a look as they emerged, it was so bright here, the sun streaming prettily in the window making the library much more attractive, not to mention silence was peaceful here compared to other areas.

You notice the boys looking around, looking a little confused but happy. You and Alex had found this spot when hiding from Amos during Christmas break of your first year, he never found you and was a bit distraught that you had died or something when you returned to common room a few hours later. Alex found it hilarious while you felt a little bad, buying him some sugar quills to make up for it.

“Guys?” you call out softly “It’s just here” you point to the booth in front of you before carefully climbing up

The boys walked up but both halted as you skirt rode up, Sirius just smiled to himself while Remus tried to avert his eyes, although he’d be a liar if he said he didn’t enjoy the view, something he was definitely going to scold himself for doing later

“After you” Sirius motions for Remus to walk first

He nods walking to the window, as he peered in there was a booth on top of the widow sill, the sill a lot deeper than the others so it had to be charmed in some way. You were smiling down at him, looking like a goddess…okay maybe the backlight from the widow was giving you that effect but a goddess you were in his eyes none the less. He looked at you then the opposite seat, would it be too bold of him to claim the seat next to you?

He was taking too long to decide so he just slipped in across from you, missing your disappointment “This is snazzy” Sirius comments as he gets a good look “You make this?” he asks as he climbs in the same side as Remus, it was a deep window but not big enough that it wasn’t a little close for two people on one side and he didn’t want to make you uncomfortable

“Sort of?” you giggle a bit making them smile “The large window and the booth was originally here just one long seat” you gesture “But when me, Alex and Amos found it in first year, we added the table and transfigured the original soft seat into these” you push into the plushie material beneath you

Sirius copies your movements looking rather satisfied with the level of squish “Do you have any idea who made the original changes?” Remus wonders realising you and your friends were rather similar to his

You meet his eyes for a second smiling at one another for a second longer than you meant before you turn your gaze to some scratchings in the wood, pointing at them “Those are all we have to go on, three of them are from Amos, Alex and myself as a…we were here kinda thing” you explain, retracting your hand

Sirius’ eyes light up that you technically vandalised “Knew I saw mischief in you darling” he comments as his eyes hone in on the initials

Remus tilts his head “So [your initials] is you?” he confirms continuing as you nod “AM is Alex?” another nod “and AD is Amos” you nod once more

“So the original creators were NS and LL, any theories on who they could be?” Sirius asks, both he and Remus looking towards you

You shrug “We tried to figure it out but ultimately gave up, although…Amos did think NS could be Newt Scamander since he had that extendable…case…thingy” you make a little box shape with your hands, moving them back and forth to suggest it growing, a motion that the boys thought was rather adorable to watch

“Either way this is nice, your friends won’t mind us using it for the project?” Remus makes sure you’re comfortable

“They’ll be alright with it, don’t worry” you reassure “Shall we get started?”

It didn’t take long to fall into a rhythm once you had picked a charm, deciding to go simple and choose the knitting charm as you could add some extra enchantments to the wool for extra credit. Remus and you would work on the essay along with you actually doing the knitting and Sirius was to research other charms you could add since that was the most exciting bit.

Sirius was currently sketching, drawing a little jumper for you to knit and making a list of what enchantments to add to each colour of wool used next to it. Remus was reading up on a couple of the charms and writing down notes for the history part and you had started to write the very first draft adding little bubbles next to parts that needed expanded on that the boys could research.

You quietly chuckled at Sirius humming, glancing up at Remus who must have heard ‘is that dancing queen?’ you mouth looking surprised at how he knew a muggle song

‘He’s a huge fan’ Remus mouths back nodding

You bob your head glancing at Sirius in his own little world before returning to Remus who’s still looking at you, you weren’t ready for the conversation to end ‘Do you like ABBA?’

He chuckles silently ‘How do you think he knows about it’ he cocks his head towards Sirius

You were about to ask something else when the raven-haired boy lifted his head “Y/n?”

“Yeah?” you say tearing your gaze away from Remus

“You know the direction to the charms section from here?” he inquires pointing his finger and moving it around like he’s weaving through the library

“Mhm” you hum scooting down the booth to point “If you go straight down there and turn right I think the 3rd or 4thbookshelf in…it’s the one just after all the lunar stuff…” Remus stiffens “…you can’t miss it” you give him a smile as you finish

Sirius returns it “Thanks” he says hopping down out of the booth and walking off

Turning back Remus looked a little tense “You okay Rem?” you ask shuffling back into the booth

He shakes his head a little snapping out of something “Sorry. I was thinking about how to apply this charm and got swept up” he lies, taking a second to what you just called him “R-rem?” he stutters out

Your eyes widen in panic “I’m sorry, I should have asked before…sorry” you apologise bashfully

“No” he says a little too quickly “I mean…” he lets out a nervous laugh “I don’t mind it I was just surprised as all” he tries to recover

He felt better as you giggled “Well I couldn’t exactly keep calling you Remus, Remus Lupin, now could I?” you jest making him chuckle

As the smiles die down in to silence you decide to be brave “This is going to sound weird…but you do remember me, right?” you ask hopefully

His eyes meet yours, face soft as he smiles “Yeah” I would never forget you “This may sound weird…” he copies you, your smile at his words sending his hear a flutter “…but you’re a witch” he lets out a tiny laugh at his own statement

“I am, as are you…” he watches the adorable realisation dawning your face “Wizard, you…you are a wizard not a witch” your words slow down feeling a little embarrassed although with his constant smile helps your urge to not just run away

She is so cute “That I am” he says coyly, gaining a little bit of confidence

After a few moments of comfortable silence, you speak “How is the book?” you knew the answer since Sirius mentioned it but you wanted to know what he really thought and if you were like the girl from the book and he liked her then maybe he’d like you too

“Good really good so far” he nods merrily “Loved the bit with the purple haired guy in the…”

“…the tavern” you finish both bringing to giggle together ‘He’s so funny, I knew as soon as he said it would be simple they’d just get in and get out that chaos was about to ensue”

“Reminded me of James and Sirius” Remus notes, loving how easy it was to talk to you and your laugh was contagious

“Or Alex and Amos…I swear one of these days I might actually kadvra them…I’m sure you heard them at lunch”

“Sure, did sunshine” he wiggles his eyebrows looking directly at you, merlin just went you were about to faint he sprinkles a little extra “Or did you like puppy better?”

Okay maybe I was wrong this is rather fun, He wonders as he sees how flustered you are, wide eyes, chewing on your lip, he could practically feel the heat radiating off your cheeks, not to mention the your little was heart pitter pattering so quickly, wait fuck am I making her uncomfortable? His worries dissipate as he sees the little smile on your lips

“I…emm…liked…” love better, was what you were going to try and squeak out but before you could Sirius’ voice interrupts

“Okay this place is a maze…” he steps in front of the booth looking up at the two of you before glancing back warily “Oh shit” he looks panicked quickly ducking under the table of the booth between you and Remus

You quickly shuffle back in the seat shoving some of the material of your skirt between your legs while Remus hisses at Sirius “What are you doing?” he leans on his elbow looking under the table at his friend

Sirius just gives him a cringy look “I may or may not have pissed off the librarian by walking around the same part of the library 100 times and…” he chuckles “I pretty sure she thinks I’ve stolen something…oh merlin here she comes” he explains before grabbing the first cloak he could find and hiding under the fabric

Remus’ mouth drops shaking his head, eyes flicking to your legs pushed together, gulping as he sits back up with more than a light blush on his face, luckily for him you were busy looking out of the booth for the librarian as her footsteps approached

The women walks by the window seat, merely glancing in, however just as yours and Remus’ were about to relax she doubles back eyeing the two of you “Miss y/l/n two days in a row” she tilts her head while you give her a anxious smile “Have either of you see Mr Black?”

“Which one?” Remus jumps in, it wasn’t the first time he’d had to cover for Sirius nor would it be the last

“The…” she stops hearing something, that something was Sirius quietly chuckling followed by yelping at Remus kicking him “The elder of the brothers” she says irritated

“Haven’t seen him” Remus replies plainly shrugging

She turns her head to you who mirrors Remus’ movements “I find it hard to believe that Mr Blacks friend and little girlfriend would have no idea where he is” she lets out a huff at the end

Remus makes a face, bothered at you being called Sirius girlfriend, as he glances over, you look bewildered at the notion but you aren’t denying it? But he knew you were shy so perhaps you were just too nervous to speak back?

“Jealous, are we?” Sirius emerges from under the table, laying on his stomach and leaning on his hands winking at her “And for the record she isn’t my girlfriend…yet” he adds smirking away

You let out a cute little noise in shock, eyes blowing wide “Three of you out and Mr Black you are on thin ice” she warns walking away quickly to hide the growing blush on her cheeks

“Sorry” Sirius apologises as he clamours back onto the seat next to Remus handing him the cloak

Remus slides it on, feeling a little tighter than normal but he just chops it up to the jumper he’s wearing bunching up “Can’t take you anywhere” he says chucking a little “Was is so hard for you to supposed to stay put” he shakes his head

You start giggling “What?” Sirius asks putting on his own cloak

“I’m sorry” you calm yourself down grabbing your robe from under the table as it must have fallen “It kinda sounded like Sirius was your dog, it was just like watching my Gran with hers” you clarify

Sirius barks at laugh while Remus smiles to himself, your serotonin peaking at the laugher although a part of you thinks there was more to why this was so funny

As you all pack up your bags Remus opens a bar of chocolate, breaking off a bit and slipping it between his lips, as he looks up he sees you staring at him “Want a bit?” he holds the bar out towards you

You smile at him pretending that you totally weren’t just watching the way his lips moved “Is that okay?” you ask, only reaching out to take a bit after he nods, recognising the wrapper as one of the muggle chocolates sold in the very back of Honeydukes

Sirius pokes his cheek with his tongue “You never offer me chocolate” he crosses his arms in a huff, pouting like a child

You watch amused as Remus tucks the chocolate safely back into his bag “Because it makes you sick…please don’t let me remind you of the incident of 75 with y/n present” he gestures towards you

“That was one time” Sirius mutters shuffling out the booth, Remus behind him and you doing the same

As you are shifting out you look at Remus who mouths ‘five times’ while holding up that amount of fingers

You chuckle, no wonder they call him Pads, he really is a dog, you joke as you hop down from the window seat grabbing your bag and robes, as you turn to them you notice the time “Oh, I need to get to potions!”

“You got plenty time darling” Sirius assures you

You nod your head tilting it from side to side “Yes but after this morning I need to get Alex back and to do that I need to get to Potions before him” you explain making the two boys grin “Would you like to meet tomorrow again?”

They nod “Same time?” Remus asks

“Sounds good” you say walking backwards almost tripping your robes that were draped over your arm “I’ll see you then” you give them a wave before turning and jogging off

The two boys smile as the watch you leave “Wait do we have cla…” Sirius turns to ask but trails off noticing Remus’ attire “You know you’d look cute as a puff Moons”

Remus looked at Sirius strangling for a second before his eyes drifted down to his robes…your robes, no wonder it felt tight, but if he had yours then that meant…

You were nervous, beyond nervous as you walked down to breakfast, today was the day you were going to propose. Well actually, Sirius was originally the one who was planning to propose but last week you and Remus had been talking when you picked up Sirius’ jacket to get your jumper and a small box fell out. Remus seemed to know right away and tried to snatch it before you could get to it but you were too fast.

“Y/n I can explain” Remus pointed at you but it was clear that he had absolute no idea how to ‘explain’ it

Eventually Remus being the terrible liar he is gave in and told you how he had gone on Sirius’ behalf to get the ring but when he was giving it to him, he had to shove it in his pocket so you wouldn’t see it. After that you placed the ring back inside his jacket pocket but as you lay with him on your chest that night you realised maybe you could do something a little bit brave and a little bit mischievous, you could propose to him first.

You schemed with Remus and Tonks, there was to be a party this Friday for the order members and, according to Remus, Sirius was planning on proposing to you at it. Therefore, last night you pinched the ring from his jacket and kept it safely in your pocket ready for when the time came. You were aware Sirius would probably be running around frantic all day so you, Remus and Tonks would have to keep your cool as not to give anything away

You took your usual seat at the end of the table, Harry on your left with Remus and Tonks across from you. The Weasley’s would be arriving in the afternoon, along with Hermione to help set up, then the rest of the order members would arrive shortly after in the evening. As everyone sat digging into their breakfast, Sirius entered looking a tad uneasy, walking up to the kitchen and grabbing his own breakfast before taking a seat at the head of the table.

“Morning Siri” you shine at him, the nerves starting to bubble into excitement as you see him

“Morning darling” his own worried state seems to vanish for a minute as he looks up from his breakfast to see you smiling at him, leaning forward to give you a quick kiss on your cheek

“Looking forward to the party?” Tonks asks, rubbing her hands together with a smirk, her hair becoming a bit brighter with her enthusiasm

“Yeah! I haven’t seen Mione, Ron and Gi…the others in a couple of weeks” Harry catches himself, cheeks heating up at his small slip up while the rest of you smile knowingly at each other

“I think it’s going to be one to remember” Remus taunts earning a stern look from Sirius and a smirk from you and Tonks

“You looking forward to it Siri?” you bite your lip as you place your hand over his

He tears his eyes away from glaring at Remus to you, his face softening “Yeah, I have somethings I need to…do before then…” he licks his lips as you see a familiar look almost like a small light bulb just when off in his brain “Harry you mind coming with me for a bit” Sirius gestures for the boy to follow him out

As Sirius stands walking through to the next room, Harry mutters a quick ‘yeah sure’ grabbing a bit of toast from his plate, munching on it as he follows his godfather out.

“I think he’s realised it’s gone” Tonks whispers biting back a giggle

“I feel bad making him stressed, but I think he’ll love it, right?” you say in a low tone looking towards Remus for conformation

He smiles nodding “Oh he’s going to fall for you all over again” you and Tonks smile as you all return to your breakfast while Sirius and Harry converse in the next room

“Close the door” Sirius ushers to Harry who shoves his piece of toast in his mouth while he closes the door

He takes the toast out of his mouth as he stares concerned at his godfather’s state “Are you okay?”

“Yes…no…yes” Sirius shakes his head as he paces

“I’m going to take that as a solid maybe” Harry says to himself as he walks over to the man, placing a hand on his upper arm “What’s going on?”

“Okay” Sirius nods composing himself finally “Sit down I was going to tell you before you came down for breakfast but well you’ll understand in a minute” he gestures for the boy to sit down with him “As you know me and y/n have been together for a while now…” he starts clearly nervous to tell Harry in case he doesn’t like it

“She’s pregnant?” Harry asks thinking that might explain Sirius’ nervous state

The man’s eyes widen “No” he waves it off answering straight away before he sits back thinking for a minute “I don’t think…no she isn’t…probably…that’s wasn’t what I was going to…say” he wavers as harry tries not to laugh at the several emotions that his godfather seemed to go through in the space of a few seconds “I was going to ask her to marry me”

Harrys eyes lit up “That’s great!” he exclaims smiling brightly

“You think so?” the boy nods making Sirius smile as well, feeling relieved that Harry approves

“Where you that nervous I wouldn’t like it?” the boy tilts his head in question

“No, well maybe a bit, I wanted to make sure you were comfortable with it. You see I was planning on doing it at the party later” he explains

“Oh, so you’re a bit anxious?” Harry asks a little surprised as he’d never really seen him like this

“Not originally” Sirius laughs a little shaking his head “But that was before I couldn’t…find the ring” he confesses feeling embarrassed that this wasn’t exactly an out of character move for himself, he was sure James was probably laughing at him from the beyond, which was true but not for the reasons he thought

“Oh no” Harrys eyebrows knit together as he frowns “How can I help?” he offers right away

Sirius smiles at Harrys sentiment “Oh no is right and yes you can definitely help. I need you to rake through our room it must have just fallen out somewhere in there and I need to you make sure y/n doesn’t come across it or know anything. If she finds out I lost it she’ll tease me forever”

“On it” Harry nods standing up as he chomps down the rest of his toast heading to the door

“Oh” the boy turns back around as Sirius points at him “Don’t go in the top two drawers of the dark brown dresser in the corner of our room that’s the ones with our underwear, but all the others check in case I threw it in while I picking up clothes. And…” he points a little more firmly almost like a huge warning “… don’t open the black box under the bed, trust me you’ll never look at me or y/n the same”

“G…got it” Harry says going bright red his mind unable to stop the horrid image of what could be in it, before he leaves he turns back “Can I ask Hermione and Ron to help?”

“Yeah that’s fine, but don’t let Molly know under any circumstances, I love the women but she can’t hold her water”

You were headed up to change your shirt after you split some chocolate down your top while helping Molly make dessert. Walking into yours and Sirius’ shared room you see Hermione looking under a pile of clothes on an armchair, Harry looking through Sirius’ jacket pockets in the closest and Ron searching under the bed. You close the door behind you, the click making Hermione and Harry’s heads whip to look at you who was smiling knowingly at them before you all let out a small giggle as Ron whacks his head in panic letting out a muffled version of his signature ‘bloody hell’

“What’ch ya doing?” you smile as you look between the teens

“Nothing” Harry says quickly shaking his head along with Hermione

“We definably weren’t looking for anything” Ron says quickly earning a disappointed sigh from Hermione and she holds her head with her hand while Harry just looks down in defeat ready to apologise

“Looking for this?” you pull out the engagement ring box, to which the all stare mouths ajar

“You know?” Harry looks at you in sheer shock

“Yes and now you all are going to be recruited to the dark side” you wink but none of them seem to get it “Star wars, no? Merlin we are having a movie night” you point at the teens a little disappointed none of them got the reference. As you are about to start explaining you see Ron had begun to pull out a black box from under the bed “Ron?”

“Yeah” he looks up at you

“I’d put the back where you found it if I were you” you warn him with a half curve smile

The party was now in full swing, everyone dotted about the room immersed in conversation as the music played softly from the record player in the background. You saw Harry break the news to Sirius from across the room about how he couldn’t ‘find’ the ring anywhere, you felt a little bad as you saw his face drop so you decided to go over and comfort him. He doesn’t notice you as you approach seeming to take a rather large gulp of his drink as he took a deep breath.

“Siri you okay?” you rub his arm as you lean in planting a kiss on his cheek

This seems to calm him as he slithers his arm around your waist pulling you closer to him “Yeah, sorry. I know I’ve been a bit distant today I was a bit nervous about the party” he smiles sadly, clearly a little disappointed, on any other occasion you would have taken him to the side and made sure he was okay but since you knew he would be very happy soon you just nod leaning into him

“Okay” you say as you place a kiss on his jaw which makes him crack a smile

“How are you?” he gives your waist a little squeeze

“Good, I think the party’s going well everyone’s having a good time” you smile back at him, biting your lip for a second as you look around the room “Maybe you should make a little toast now everyone is here?” you suggest

Sirius’ smile falters as he remembers this was the moment he would have proposed if not for his own recklessness “Yeah good idea darlin” he leans in to give you a lingering kiss to the forehead before he steps forward grabbing one of the knifes from the buffet table nearby and clinging his glass to get everyone’s attention

“I’d like to make a little toast, don’t worry I’ll keep it short and…” Sirius’ announces but he stops hearing Molly’s and a few others gasp, oh god I better not have something on my face, he panics looking over at Remus who gives him a smile and a wink mouthing ‘turn around’

The man’s eyebrows knit together as he turns around slowly, his eyebrow raising as he sees you down on one knee behind him, box in hand. His eyes trail from your face to the box, recognising it immediately, his lips parting as he closes his eyes, a huge smile spreads across his face as well as a light-hearted chuckle escapes his lips as he puts all the pieces together

“Sirius, we have been together for a while now, and you are the most amazing, remarkable and wonderfully ridiculous man I have ever met” you giggle a little bit as does he “You make me, smile brighter, laugh harder and every time I see you my heart flutters like it was the first time I saw you all over again. I can’t imagine my life without you in it, so…” you open up the box, gaining more gasps and in your peripheral a fully crying Molly but your main focus is on the man looking at you like you were his entire world “Would you make me the happiest person alive and do me the honour of marrying me?” you ask your eyes a little glossy from the emotions running through you

If his smile could grow any wider it did as he took a couple of steps forward, dropping down to his kneels down in front of you placing the glass and knife on the floor next to him in front of you “Yes” he nods his head “Merlin yes” he declares with such joy in his eyes

Sirius wastes no time as he cups your cheeks, gently pulling your jaw towards him by his fingertips, lips meeting softly before moulding together seamlessly. The party goer cheers and applauds around you forgotten as you drop your raised knee, letting you both shuffle closer to each other as your kiss deepens. As you pull away he rests his forehead on yours, kissing your nose gently as he does

“You’re a sneaky little thing aren’t you” he shakes his head lightly as you tug your bottom lip between your teeth “Merlin I love you so much” he nuzzles his nose with yours as you both are unable to hold back your smiles

“I love you too Siri” you take his hand in yours placing a chaste kiss to his knuckles “Nice surprise?” you ask even though you already know the answer from the proud grin painting his face

“I knew I wanted to married you for a reason. May I?” he gestures to the box

You nod, handing it over as you raise up your hand for him. Sirius removes the ring out of the box, sliding it smoothly onto your finger “It’s beautiful” you say looking directly at him

“As are you my love” he compliments as he helps you stand, both of you smiling like the happiest people in the world he leans down to whisper in your ear “How many people were in on this so I know who to get back at?” you don’t say anything merely glance over in the direction of Remus, Tonks and the trio “They are so dead” he jokes as you both laugh together, as you both are about to walk away you gasp as you feel Sirius pinch your arse “Don’t think I won’t be getting you back either, future wife or not” he smirks before he pulls you in for another kiss

Cannons in my writing and things to know:

Below is some of the things i tend to keep cannon in my writing but these can differ depending on the readers house and storyline:

If the reader is Hufflepuff they are always friends with Jess McConnell and Cedric Diggory, aka the citrine trio

If the reader is Slytherin they will usually be friends with Timothy Greengrass and Joey Taggart, aka the emerald trio

I won’t write Marlene, Angelina, Pansy or Astoria as villians, they may be in the story but I refuse make them toxic for the sake of it

Cedric won’t be used as a way of making people jealous, I see that used alot plus I really like Cho and Cedric so i prefer to write him as a good friend/brother figure

Neville and Luna are always sweeties

Marlene and Dorca are always iconic queens

I usually write for a female character but I’ll write any gender when requested
