Gorgeous anime with an awesome story. Got an awesome female warrior protagonist who’s an adult woman, and fights with a SPEAR (sorry, swords are boring) and got some of the most amazing action scene! And I love her relationships with Tanda too. And there’s Chagum who is adorable and has great growth. And Torogai is an awesome crazy old mentor witch lady too. And Shuga! Shuga is one of my fave too! White haired thoughtful court sage trying to figure out things and playing whithin complicated political limits *_*
I also love it thematically, it addresses theme of colonialism and rewriting history and breakdown of ecological relationships as a result. All of that is pretty awesome.

I have some fairly mixed feelings about that one. At times it was fairly good in term of portrayal of depression and social anxiety and as a satire of how predatory and dysfunctional geek cultures can get - and at other times I feel it was pretty gross and had some pretty gross things to say to all of the above. Sometimes I feel like it was stuck at a weird place between being a genuine deconstruction of how sexist geek culture can be and the... I wanna say Manic Dream Pixie Girl but i don’t think that’s the best description of it in that context, but close enough in some aspect - and being just yet another light hearted lampshade hanging parody that’s actually still in the genre of what it parodies.
I also think it’s a weirdly badly directed anime for the story it tells. Like, I feel it should have had a much more absurd and surrealist art and animation style. It would have fit the atmosphere of paranoia and frequent imagine spots better.
But yeah sometimes it was really funny in a grim humour kind of a way, and some of the characters are very well realized and intriguing.
(Also i was pretty fucking depressed myself when I watched it which probably didn’t help);
