Doing some super rudimentary work on defining visual identities for different areas in Rocket Dog.
The arcade run has really suffered without a feeling of progression, even if the level segments got harder over the course of the run.
I'm also hoping that having some identity to each area will help me design the level segments cohesively instead of just basing it on challenge level. Already some obstacles and level elements feel like they make more sense in one area than another.
The first area is definitely the most refined, thanks to being designed by @jane-dump.

The next graphics priority for @andymakesgames's The Indomitable Rocket Dog was the level complete screen. Andy gave me this flyer as potential inspiration:
I gave it a whack, but it wasn't quite right. We couldn't really get it to a place where it had all the info (your grade, your time, the various ranking data, the menu options to keep going) presented in a readable way that also went well with the geometric symmetry of the original poster.
Andy then had the idea to use this style on the "new high score"/"put in your initials" screen instead. I think it's a way better fit and, quite frankly, that it slaps.
