Founder Equity Split

Going to keep this one short as the resource that I pulled from is very concise and to the point, but when it comes to equity splits between founders, it is never an easy discussion. The article linked below goes through some tips and advice on how to handle this situation and why it should usually be done up-front. Though in some cases it makes sense to wait and see if you are not able to forecast how much risk, effort, and money each founder is willing to put towards the startup.

Today, we’d like to give a massive shout-out to KickLabs! Soniqplay has been signed into the programme to work with the great team at KickLabs to accelerate the business with US brands and media owners ahead of relocating the business to San Francisco. KickLabs, based in San Francisco ranks amongst the top ten accelerators in the US (onforb.es/IoNR1W). The program focuses on helping entrepreneurs to connect with prospective partners and key customers in the US, accelerating the business to gain customers and traction. A KickLabs trademark is the frequent “innovative sessions” they run, where entrepreneurs get to connect at a high level with powerful brands such as Red Bull, Sky, Microsoft, or Verizon. KickLabs is located in RocketSpace, a shared office space to some of the hottest start-ups in SF. On a chance visit to SF at the start of the year, Martin hooked up with his old buddy Duncan Logan, founder of RocketSpace which led to the KickLabs intro to Chris, Peter and Beverly - thanks Dunc!
