As far as Proton is concerned, punching Calem once was by no means enough, but it was about as good as he was going to get.

He doesn’t like him at all, but at the same time, he recognizes that he’s important to Shauna and doesn’t feel like starting shit on account of the impact it might have on her; there’s a lot of things Proton could do to make things that much more miserable, but he just doesn’t want to because the last thing he wants is to upset his Pupil. As things are, he’s more or less content with ignoring Calem at best, and plotting a trip down to the fungeon for him in response to all of the coffee machine shenanigans at worst. He seems to switch back and forth a lot from deeming him not worth his time to really wanting to go back and get another punch in for good measure.

He has also earned the permanent title of “brat” in Proton’s mind, apparently, which is usually what he uses to refer to people younger than him like those plucky little ten year old protagonists that really piss him off.

Rules || Shauna & Calem

Morning had come too quickly after her first night back in Kanto. Shauna gazed up at the ceiling, back pressed against her bed, unsurprised that sun had woken up before she could even fall asleep. She didn't like the position she had put herself in. She didn't like it--it was all to similar to the one she had nightmares about. At this point she was only steps away from physically separating Proton and Calem with every inch of her body. And given the deal that she'd made, if this went wrong... 

Shauna rolled over to her side and clutched her stomach. No. She didn't want that to happen. Shauna knew how Proton could and would abuse his power and... she didn't want Calem on their territory. Not ever.

Back to her back again. She dropped her hand onto her bedside table and smacked her alarm clock as it announced the eight-o-clock hour. She didn't bother messing around with snooze. Instead, she sighed at her stupid dumb life and sat up on her bed. Her hands clinched the edge, sheets scruffing up as her grip tightened. 

Time to greet the day.

Changing didn't take long enough. Nor did brushing her teeth, or her hair, or anything else, really. But once she was done, she found that she had nothing else worthwhile to stall with. She supposed it was time to go.

Shauna paused at the door. She looked back over her room, pondering quickly if she was forgetting anything. She had her bag, she had... Shauna looked into the purse for good measure, sorting quickly through her Pokéballs. Yes. She had Fred. She was good to go.

Now that Shauna had left her room, her trek to Calem's was surprisingly quick. It was as though her legs insisted on getting this all over with even though her heart was freaking right on out about it.

Three firm knocks on the door. A voice came out of Shauna that managed to be both timid and stern all at once. "Calem? Are you in there? I need to talk to you about something."

Calem walked into Archer's office and set a large bag down on the desk. Unlike his usual appearances, he was fully decked out in his modified uniform, the bars around his collar and along his gloves depicting his rank. "Seven Mega Stones and ten keystones, along with approximately 20,000 Pokeyen," he said. "I labeled the Mega Stones I could identify."

Archer barely spared him a glance as he continued to write. “Good work,” he said vaguely, “I’ll send these to be cataloged appropriately. Go fill out a mission report and send it in before the end of next week. Play yuor cards right and you may get a bonus with your next paycheck.”

Kindling | Shauna & Calem

Continued from Kindling & Farewell

Shauna couldn't move. She was stuck, face-planted on the floor, her face feeling tight from air-dried tears. The only wet that survived was the constant stream of drool leaking onto the floor.

She really should have eaten a Pecha berry.

But now, she couldn't eat a Pecha berry if she wanted to. And that left her in this state. Unable to ask for help. Unable to help herself.

There was one Pokemon though, who always sensed her trainer. And her presence was getting a little too weak for her liking. And so Xena popped out of her Pokeball and immediately sought out Shauna. As she suspected, her trainer was in dire need of assistance. 

The Xatu didn't ask for permission. There was another Psychic around that could help--she could feel it. Her eyes glowed a soft blue, and a Great Ball was removed from Shauna's bag, floating within a similarly blue light. Xena placed it gently onto the floor and pecked the button. This one would be able to get them back to Calem much faster than she could.

Kindling | Shauna & Calem

Kalos, wow. How long had it been since the last time she'd traveled Kalos?

Actually, Shauna preferred not to think about the answer to that. Instead, she was going to focus on now. Now being the opportunity she had to forget that problems were a thing for a while, and maybe even fix some of them in the process--illogical as that sounded.

Shauna walked with her hands behind her back in the most unnecessary way possible. She zig-zagged and twirled, seemingly impervious to tripping, stopping suddenly at a small pond to stare at her reflection in the water.

"Ooh..."

She was rather easily fascinated by the way her face rippled. She smiled, and squished her face, and twirled her hair, and stuck her tongue out just to watch it change. That was, until another reflection joined hers.

Then Shauna straightened up and looked seriously at Calem. "You didn't see nothin!" Of course, that seriousness of hers didn't last any longer than her sentence. She stuck her tongue out at him and giggled, turning away from the water to look at the long route before them. Then, finally, she got to the important stuff. "Where should we go first?"
