★New OC (from RockSibblings AU): Tarantula Webster★

Hello world and all who inhabit it! (⁠ﾉ⁠◕⁠ヮ⁠◕⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠*⁠.⁠✧ Happy December 31st everyone! How are you? Excited for the new year? Ready to celebrate tonight?

I don't know what I'll be doing as evening falls, but I do know what I did last night, and it's this: a new OC! ✧⁠◝⁠(⁠⁰⁠▿⁠⁰⁠)⁠◜⁠✧ And I did it for one of my favorite AUs: @rocksibblingsau 's! Last Sunday morning, I read the latest chapter and then had a random moment of inspiration. And this girl was born! I present to you Tarantula, Spider's sister! (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠)

And yes, they don't look very alike, at least based on what RockSibblings posted last night at my request (yes, that long comment was me anonymously. XD), but I did my best. And yes, Spider is probably an only child canonically speaking (I don't remember if he is or isn't), but I don't know, inspiration struck and I followed its orders, so I made Spider a cool older sister. I thought it would be fun.

But enough of the nonsense, this girl has some cool things to share. So let's get to her lore!

★Full name: Tarantula Webster (yes, she has a last name. I don't know, I thought it would be a good last name, even if most Trolls don't have one)

★Nicknames: Tara, Webster, Spider's sister.

★Species: Rock Troll (Maybe Grunge Troll? Since that's what I based her style on)

★Age: 20+ years old (College age, more or less)

★Current job: Works at a weird shop that's only open at night called the "Creepy Crawly" (named after my girl @mintycourage) and studies in the evenings, so she sleeps in the mornings.

★Hobby: Collecting strange things from different tribes.

★Story: Spider's older sister, lives in the basement of her grandmother's house, and is mostly nocturnal. She tends to get involved in all sorts of things, legal or illegal (as illegal as it gets in VRC), and always seems to know someone with some rare or special skill who can help her in very specific situations or get her exclusive or rare items. Many people owe her favors, and she never misses an opportunity to collect, usually in the most unusual way, and she always has all sorts of information at her disposal. She's usually the first to know the hottest gossip in town or to be aware of private information (like the fact that the famous wrestler Enigma is married to his eternal rival Sunbreaker, but she was paid a lot to keep quiet).

★Personality: Relaxed and lazy, Tarantula is the epitome of laziness among the Rock Trolls, but she's less proactive when it comes to fights and direct confrontations. Instead, she's an opportunistic girl who uses things like blackmail and manipulation to get what she wants (but without going to evil extremes). She's very intelligent and skilled with words, capable of confusing or drawing even the most naive Trolls into her trap. And the clever ones too, if she so chooses. With Spider, she's the typical older sister who likes to tease her little brother or reveal his secrets to his friends, but she also enjoys spoiling him by getting him the video games he likes before they're even released. She wears pajamas 24/7 (even when going out) and rarely brushes her hair.

★Illnesses/Injuries/Flaws: Physically healthy except for a few scratches on some parts of her body. She got them after some unpleasant encounters with Trolls who wanted to beat her up after one of her illegal dealings, but as always, she got away with it. At least for the most part.

And that's all I have for now. XD

Now let's talk about her design. Since I wanted him to resemble Spider, I first had to look up Spider references and get an idea of how to draw the guy as well. Since he's based on a character from a pretty old zombie movie, I started looking for references and also asked RockSibblings about our boy's colors last night. However, I still took the liberty of giving Tarantula his own unique characteristics. And Spider, as you'll see in the following doodle.

Spider: Branch, look! I have a super cool older sister too. Now we can fight to decide which one is the best! Just like rivals do!

Tarantula: Hey. So, you're my brother's boyfriend, huh?

(Spider talks about Branch so much that Tarantula assumes he's his boyfriend. Or that Spider is hopelessly in love with Branch. Which may or may not be true.)

As you can see, Tarantula is taller and more lanky, a bit like Spider's character in the movie "Return of the Living Dead" (the movie the character is based on). Spider (the Troll), on the other hand, being a pubescent boy (I think he's 13 right now in the fic, I'm not sure. But he should be the same age as Branch, so most likely), is shorter and stockier. Obviously, I doesn't drew his eyes, so I can't say he share that with Tarantula, but they definitely share the same hair, which is curly and purple, and the same nose, which, if you look closely, is the same shape in both of them.

Then we have the colors. (≧▽≦) My first idea for Tarantula was to give her a zombie-inspired color palette, and I was going to draw Spider with similar colors, but I asked RockSibblings and they surprised me by saying that he has more human-like colors (except for his nose and eyes. :V). But I still wanted Tarantula to have zombie colors, so I colored Spider with his canon colors and made Tarantula's skin and eyes look like a zombie's (that's why his eyes are so light), while leaving the hair as the main shared characteristic between them.

(And as a side note, I can't draw mullets. :/ I did my best with Spider, but I'm clueless.)

The truth is, I was already technically drawing the human version of a troll with Spider when RockSibblings shared their design with me, and I realized I was on the right track. (≧▽≦) I just needed the earrings and wristbands because I hadn't seen them in my references, but I easily added them. Tarantula, on the other hand, doesn't have piercings, but she does have tattoos. Unlike her little brother, she really likes spiders and thinks they're cool, so she got two tattoos. And she has eight eyelashes on each eye, four on top and four on the bottom, inspired by the number of legs an arachnid has.

Anyway, I don't have anything else to say. (≧▽≦) So, that's all. I hope you liked it, and that RockSibblings liked it too. At least because of the little drawing of Spider I did. ಡ ͜ʖಡ I wanted to do more, but I got lazy and left it like that. I don't know if I'll draw her again in the future.

hey question what would happen if your Branch and Pumkin where in a @rocksibblingsau situation where Barb up and Adopt them

I didn't think anyone would ask me a question related to that, especially since I'm a pretty insignificant profile at the moment. I do know that @rocksibblingsau reblogged my Rock Pumkin post (which you can check out on my masterpost), but since it was the only time, I figured it was just a weird coincidence or that I'm just reblogging it because I made a funny Barb doodle. XD

So, @rocksibblingsau , if you're reading this and don't understand the context or don't remember, it's this: my OC is named Pumkin, and she's supposed to be the biological little sister of Branch in my AU (doesn't have a name on my profile; I should add one sometime). I'm going to do my best to answer this question, though I apologize if I mess anything up or say something weird. I've read the fic up to the last chapter (a gem so far. Rock Branch makes me very happy), but I'm just saying this just in case.

Aha, now for the crux of the matter.

If my Pumkin and Branch were in a situation where Barb adopted them like in Rock Sibblings, some funny things would happen. Remember how Branch was technically kidnapped?

Well, Pumkin would have been hunting for lunch while Branch was looking for materials for the bunker (although in Pumkin and Branch's case, they wouldn't have made a bunker, but rather adapted an abandoned burrow they'd found). When she noticed Branch wasn't anywhere near the construction site, she would go looking for him, quickly tracking him down by scent. But then she'd smell Barb and panic, as it was a strange smell she'd never smelled before, and she wouldn't like the fact that she had her brother with her, so she'd quickly catch up with them. So, when he found them all gathered near the bus (I don't know how to spell it. I speak Spanish, and that thing translates to "fisherman's bus." I don't know if that's correct) and saw her older brother among them, she wouldn't hesitate to pounce on Barb and try to attack her. This would surprise them all, but Branch would panic a little about the attack on these trolls who haven't harmed him yet and order Pumkin to stop. And of course, Pumkin would obey, because his Big Bro knows best.

Although of course, I think Barb wouldn't take it the wrong way. I'm pretty sure she'd like Pumkin's fighting spirit! After all, canonically (in my AU) Barb takes a liking to Pumkin after the two essentially get into a fight at the Rock Arc, so she'd find my little wild child pretty cool!

But well, after everything was cleared up and Branch explained his situation to Thrash (I also apologize if I misspelled his name. It's just kind of weird XD) of being practically two misfits from the town who lived alone in the woods because they were called aggressive, it would probably be Thrash who would invite them to come to VRC and not Branch who would ask him to take him, because obviously he wouldn't like that a 10 year old boy and an 8 year old girl would be living alone, even if they are Pop children. Branch would be hesitant at first, because hell, he has a little sister to take care of, this way he would have a little meeting with her and they would decide what to do. Pumkin wouldn't be very happy to leave the house they would have been making for both of them, since she liked the burrow, but Branch would see this as a better opportunity. Who knows, maybe they could find more useful resources from wherever these darker trolls come from, and they wouldn't have to be frowned upon for their colors or their aggression anymore, since at least Barb liked Pumkin's attack. Then Barb overhears them talking and goes over to tell them a little about how Rock Trolls like to fight, things that would change Pumkin's mind.

So Branch and Pumkin decide to give it a try.

So they go to Volcano Rock City and stay with Thrash and Barb.

At first, I think the whole adoption thing wouldn't happen, since most of my babys would be visiting the city. You know, just to see what it's like. My Branch's trauma with music wouldn't be as severe, since, as I mentioned at some point, Branch would have gotten used to music thanks to Pumkin and wouldn't have gone completely gray. So, even if he didn't really like listening to anything, he'd have a much higher tolerance for it and wouldn't have the flashbacks he sometimes had in the RockSibblings fic. Pumkin, for her part, would be very curious and find rock music fun, and the same with its inhabitants. She'd think everything was cool and generally find the new environment interesting.

Barb would probably give them a tour of the city and show them things they'd find cool or very useful, which would only make them want to stay there even more. The heat would be a bit annoying, but I think they could overcome it. And well, overall, and during the time they explored everything about Rock culture and stayed with the royal family as their guests, they would eventually like the town and decide to stay. Most likely, they would be adopted by the royal family, as they would have grown attached to each other, which would lead Barb to get excited. Because now she has not one, but TWO amazing younger siblings!

My Branch would probably be like Rock Sibblings Branch. He would also like the idea of mapping the town and writing informational journals, as that's what he would have been doing back in the Burrow with the local flora and fauna. He would befriend Val and the others like in the fic's canon, and I think he would like the same things with a few extras. For example, he would still really like wrestling, and in fact, my Branch would be more confident fighting other Rock Trolls from the start despite their physical differences, as Pumkin and he would have faced the beasts Pop Forest (which, according to my canon, Pop Forest is severely hostile outside of the Village). So yeah, my Branch was already a tough guy who wasn't intimidated by anything or anyone, which I think Branch's friends would find great. He'd also take a big interest in blacksmithing and weapons, and it wouldn't be long before he dabbled in them to make his own knives and tools.

On the other hand, he'd like the idea of having Thrash as a father and Barb as an older sister. He'd feel safe with them and think Barb was cool. Like a Pumkin, but bigger and dumber (because Pumkin is smarter), but he'd still develop a lot of affection for her because of who she is.

Pumkin wouldn't take long to adapt to the Rock life either. The idea of being able to fight whoever she wants would be great, and I can see a lot of Rock Trolls being impressed by such a wild child. And the best part would be that no one would see eye to eye with her! Everyone would be very impressed by her fights, and nothing would intimidate her easily either. She'd be really interested in wrestling like her Big Bro, and I can see her taking that up when she grows up (after all, Rock Pumkin's design is based on wrestling). Or roller derby. I've been thinking that Rock Trolls roller derby would be very similar to Monster High roller derby, and since Pumkin likes wild things and moves really well, she could succeed at it.

But overall, she'd be really happy for her older brother because everyone loves him now and is really nice. She'd be part of the Diner Gang, though I could also hang around Spider's group. She likes spiders, and I think she'd find the name "spider" cool, even if the guy is kind of a loser. She could also get along with Trash (that was the weird girl obsessed with death, wasn't she?), since Pumkin sometimes has morbid thoughts about the most practical way to kill an animal or skin it. It's very likely she'll teach them all how to hunt at some point.

And she would love Barb and Thrash! She never have anyone besides Branch, so having an older sister would be amazing! The two of them would definitely be a destructive duo. And Pumkin would love Thrash so much. As soon as she understood that they were family now and that Thrash wasn't going to abandon them like his other foster families, she'd be calling him "daddy" in no time. And Thrash would be so happy to have another baby girl! Especially since my Pumkin is so sweet once she warms up to someone.

Anyway, this answer got really long, but there would be so many things that could happen with my Branch and Pumkin being adopted by Barb like in RockSibblings. And I didn't even mention Billy! Seriously, there's a lot, but most of it would be positive for everyone.

Even for Poppy. You know that in RockSibblings, Poppy gradually turns gray due to the anguish of suddenly losing Branch. Here, she would also become even more distressed because not only would Branch be missing, but also Pumkin, her best friend. But the good thing is that Pumkin would have thought of Poppy, the only person in the village who treated them well, and would have left her a letter at the Burrow so she knew what happened to them. Likewise, I can see Pumkin and her eventually establishing contact via letter at Pumkin's request with Thrash, which would prevent Poppy from becoming distressed and turning gray. Who knows, maybe this would speed things up, and by the time the girls became teenagers, the Rock Trolls and Pop Trolls would make an alliance or a peace agreement before the big meeting with the other tribes, because my Branch wouldn't hesitate to explain their living conditions in the Troll Tree and what probably happened to them, even after hearing the true story of the great separation.
