Ok so straight xiyao... (a thought process that went surprisingly longer than I even thought)

Realistic path would have to be Fem! JGY and LXC, the power imbalance must remain tilted to LXC's side over JGY's

Though in saying this, I don't particularly believe JGY being a man would ever actually elevate him above Fem! LXC, even with the misogyny of society, at the end of the day, he's the son of a whore and Fem! LXC would be viewed as the untouchable, delicate jade of Lan. If a scandal were to occur between them, I think society would shift the blame more to JGY and perhaps even infantilize Fem! LXC a bit in discussions of the scandal (like taking away her very obvious choices of allowing JGY close to her and actually having feelings for him). There would definitely be talks against her, but ultimately, as a usually proper gentry woman she would be protected. Her status could recover, JGY's would not. Their relationship would have to be very distant and, unfortunately, maybe nothing at all, to ensure that a scandal never occurs, and I think JGY would be the one to take this step, as much as it might hurt himself depending on their bond (I’m envisioning this following the same overall beats as reg canons, but I also haven’t considered fem! LXC very deeply in my own mind), he can't bear to have Fem! LXC be harmed so directly, even knowing he will ultimately take the brunt of it all.

So, moving to Fem! JGY and LXC, I actually kinda have a difficult time picturing Fem! JGY. Usually, my thinking of afab JGY is ftm JGY, so his story ends up following the usual beats but transified. A proper Fem! JGY would not hit the beats the same. First, if she did manage to escape the brothel (WHICH IS A THOUGHT PROCESS IN ITSELF, but I won't be pondering that one just yet cuz I’m not really sure on it), would she even be thrown down the stairs by her father? She could be a benefit to the Jin Clan as a bargaining chip IF her upbringing away from the Jins isn't revealed to the wider populace. The main clans have a MASSIVE lack of daughters. All these eligible bachelors and no bachelorettes in sight, she could be used to fill that gap. So then no saving of LXC but also no joining the Nies??? (less she marries in) so... Sunshot Campaign fumbled...? I mean if we go the Untamed route, maybe she gets to go to the lectures? and then we have Untamed vers Xiyao meeting, but her "betrayal" of the Nies doesn't occur because she wouldn't return to the Unclean Realm she'd go back to Jinlin Tai (again unless marriage), so we fumbled the Sunshot Campaign again... unlessss we're real desperate and make her marry into the Wens per WX perhaps??? have her feed information from there... maybe WRH takes note of her capabilities and she becomes his right hand still? or just up there in official status amongst the Wens? (insert woke joke about WRH)... But the only place she'd send msgs back to in this case would be her father, and would JGS even involve himself like that? probably not. Per Untamed vers maybe she could try for sending them to LXC, but I fear that she wouldn't be in the loop of where the Sunshot campaign troops are so how's she gonna even know where LXC is? So yeah rip Sunshot Campaign. Also theres just no reason for the JGS to give Fem! JGY to the Wens here, he doesn’t go on the offence against them so they let the Jins off the hook in comparison to the other clans.

Other path then, she does have the trip down the stairs. So fem! JGY is struggling to find a way to live. Maybe the story goes the same, she manages to get an accounting job from some kind souls, and during this time saves LXC. So Xiyao plays out the same. I'm also gonna give NMJ a hand up and say he doesn't really give af about a woman leading his squads, but the shitty Nie disciples are 100% misogynistic and still unable to not complain about Meng Shi being a prostitute, so they will definitely not be following Fem! JGY's words, so the beats go down the same as in the canon verses. (Insert woke WRH joke again). So we get to Fem! JGY killing WRH and being brought into the Jin clan... so here's where I start scratching my head, does Fem! JGY at this point become an eligible bachelorette? Hard to say as her status is exposed in this path, and it does come down to the fact that the other main clans are kinda cooked save for the Jins and Nies, there's no current need for the Jins to build connections like that, if anything, they need it the opposite way (see Xuanli). I know it's quite common to pull up with the Nieyao approach in this, but idk because everyone in this route knows Fem! JGY is born of a prostitute. The Nies might be desperate for a better heir, but not that desperate- and while I get why people consider that planting JGY into the Nie clan could be angled to taming NMJ to the Jins favour, I just don't think this works, it's again more preferable to have the other clans marry into the Jins so they become attached and dependent rather than send off their only direct line daughter regardless of how detested she may be...

So getting back to direct xiyao pondering, ultimately, the Xiyao relationship here would probably be from a distance, the yearning immense, but to the whims of proper society with no possibilities for uh bodily observations to ensure no curses are backfiring... as that would be highly scandalous and ALL blame would fall upon Fem! JGY for that one. But in weighing against Masc! JGY, I think Fem! JGY would risk the relationship more for whatever presentation it shapes into for them because again, the blame will be on her, and she deserves to get a bit selfish in following her wants, even if she won't get them how she wants.

I also have considered the idea of Xiyao marriage, somehow falling into place, but LXC knows that ultimately Fem! JGY has fought so hard to make it in Jinlin Tai, and he can't abandon his sect to take the less favoured approach of him as a man marrying into the Jin (Fem! LXC and JGY, fall the same here, Lan’s do accept women sect leaders no matter that it’s a seemingly rare occurrence and even IF the Lan elders agreed to the marriage they are definitely not sending Fem! LXC to Jinlin Tai). So that falls apart, but hey, we can have our false vision of it working out if we want.

Thinking bout huaisang braiding meng yao’s hair and sneaking in a pattern to show he’s his partner but no one’s really able to notice cuz it’s a style specific to denoting a nie heir's partner and given the early deaths of the leaders there haven’t been recent examples of the particular style

But mingjue is definitely staring at meng yao’s braids like “this ain’t just the rank style anymore… but what does it mean?”

And huaisang’s just acting as his usual “clueless” self like “oh da-ge perhaps yao-ge’s just decided to play around with his ranks style, it’s not any specific style we’ve seen before, tho I think it suits him quite well~”
