Azalea's wedding was beautiful. Unfortunately it rained so rather than the nice outdoor reception we all piled into the house afterwards. It was great, so many fun memories. It was just the family, Rode, Phoenix, and the Morrigans that stuck around after the wedding – which was probably more people than Az wanted to be honest.

It was just very relaxed. Everyone talking and telling stories. Uncle Ares and Dad told stories about when they started the band that I had never heard before. Rode talked about Az when she was a kid before she had met Alula to Az's absolute horror. Mom actually told a couple stories about Rusty, Az's dad, for the first time.

The wedding is going to be so small and it's really just going to be family here. You can come without worrying about anything. You should be here for Azalea. If for no other reason then to represent Rusty. She lost him, but she doesn't need to loose you. You're as much her parent as Rusty was, and probably more than I was if we're honest. Dearest O, Tonight was Azalea's engagement party, we both missed you so much. It wasn't much of a party just the family and Rode really. We set up the yard for the wedding and had dinner and told stories. Rode was actually nice to everyone and didn't cause problems for once. The girls are getting married in the backyard under the tree. We offered to pay for a nicer location, but they wouldn't hear of it. Alula says that this was the compromise for them - Azalea wanted to elope.

It's my last memory of all of us together, happy. Azalea naturally moved in with Alula and they were busy starting their lives. They lived closer to Rode now anyway, so he never really felt the need to come to the island after that. The Morrigans divorced a few weeks later. Uncle Ares would spend more time at his place next door after the divorce, which was the only upside. Aunt Sunflower had moved to a penthouse in San Espe, so Mars and Io would come spend the weekends on the Island with their dad. Io and the twins were super close, and Mars ended up being pretty cool for a straight guy so Phoenix and I would hang out with him a lot. The new school year would start shortly after that too. I came out and that completely changed my high school experience. I don't want to say it was bad, but accepting is not a word I would associate Nixieberg High. I'm digressing, aren't I? Let's just say it was the perfect wedding, and a day we'd all cherish.

Callista made sure the door was shut this time. "What is going on Rode?! How is she here? Do you have any idea what you've done?! What your parents are going to do now?! You reckless brat!" Rode sighed. "Are you done yet Princess?" Callista glared at him, but let him speak. "Rusty's dead." Callista felt her world go cold. "That's not possible."

"You really couldn't have found a less convenient hiding place, huh Callista?" There were some memorable voices from her past that she had rather hoped would stay there. "Rode Rainer what the fuck are you doing on my property?!" Before Rode could answer an unfamiliar voice spoke up. "Hi Mama." Callista looked at the pink teenager that had turned around to face her. "Azalea?" She asked uncertainly. "Yeah, I sorta grew a bit since the last time you saw me." "You're beautiful. But what's going on?" Rode spoke up. "We need to talk. Azalea why don't you run inside. We're already being watched." Callista glanced back inside and saw Paris watching them, and the door was cracked open. "Everything okay Callie?" Paris asked. "Yeah, um this is my daughter Azalea. I, uh, need to talk to her uncle for a minute." A look flashed across Paris' face for just a second that Callista had never seen before and scared her a bit. His voice sounded perfectly normal though. "Of course take all the time you need. Azalea and I can chat" Azalea looked back at Rode before heading in.

"Well, it is. Rusty's dead, you missed the funeral, and somehow that bastard O had figured out how to write an airtight will so you get custody of Azalea instead of me even though I was the one that was actually there. Frankly I don't trust you. She doesn't actually know you, she just knows stories, and now she's been uprooted from her life to live with you and your perfect little replacement family during the most difficult time of her life." Callista was seething. "And who's fault do you fucking think that was you bastard?! This wasn't what Rusty or I wanted. Your parents and mine made very sure that I wouldn't have a relationship with her. And my family is not a replacement anything. And how can I miss a funeral I never even heard about?! I would have been there instantly if I had known."

Rode rolled his eyes. "I will be waiting down by the docks. You should probably take a few minutes to talk to her before we go home." Rode started to leave and then paused. "You know I find it really sad that you've been more interested in cursing us than asking about how O was taking this." "I know how O is taking this. I am also pretty confident that you wouldn't know. You at least tried in front of Rusty, but we all knew how you felt about the rest of us." Callista said and took a deep breath. "For what it's worth I think it's nice that you moved here for her." "Just because I don't like you or what you put my brother and Az through doesn't mean I'm an inhuman monster like our parents. And I don't know if O will recover from loosing Rusty too, so you and I are all Azalea really has left sadly."
