If you could have 3 famous works of art in your home, which would you pick?
You’re evil. I love it.
FIrst: Claude Monet, Terrace in Sainte-Adresse.
Look at that. It’s fantastic. I used to have a puzzle of this as a kid, which is part of why I love it so much.
Second: Not one in particular, but Rodin has a series of hands carved in marble, and seeing them was pretty much a religious experience for me. The detail, the life-like-ness...
This is just what popped up in google, I don’t have any particular hands in mind. I just think they’re marvelous.
Third: Today I’m thinking Degas. Well, really, I’m thinking this one specific painting of people singing on a balcony, but I’m tired and can’t remember the artist and also really love this Degas piece. So, The Ballet Class.
It’s my icon! Degas captures movement like no one else, and makes this period and its inhabitants seem normal, not like some mystical creatures from a time long past. I don’t know - his paintings just always get me.
Great question, thanks for asking! Sorry if I got totally cliche on you.
