My experience at ROFcon’s artist alley this year went above and beyond my expectations by a long-shot! I knew the con itself would be wonderful, since the staff were so nice and helpful last year. That was actually one of my deciding factors in even applying for their artist alley. I wasn’t disappointed at all! The staff were extremely nice with a laid back atmosphere.

What does "has been dealt with internally" entail?

1. Those who were unaware of the situation and/or misunderstanding have been informed of it, so they can not claim ignorance of the issue. This problem was brought to everyone’s attention, not just those who caused it.2. Discussions about sensitivity and appropriateness were held with those who were altering the salute, and it has been made explicitly clear to them that what happened was in no way a joke, funny, or okay at all.3. Discussions about sensitivity and appropriateness were held in general, as well as discussions about attentiveness, perspective, and forethought. While the original salute (a fist raised straight into the air, not a flat hand raised out and above from the chest), in context and between those involved, did seem innocuous it has been made very clear to all persons involved that misunderstandings and misconstruations are both a fact and a lesson of life. A lesson well received, and the resolutions from which are being put into place immediately so that nothing like this ever happens again.

We are deeply saddened by the hurtful actions of the few staffers that took it upon themselves to turn a harmless bit of private morale raising into a public show of insensitivity.we do hope that anyone who was affected by their actions can find it in themselves to give both ROFCon and its parent company ESSI a chance to prove that it does care about its attendees by joining us for next year’s ROFCon or this November for Nekocon, so that they may see the strides we've made, are making, and will continue to make towards a better convention experience for everyone.
