NOTE: Happy Birthday, George Harrison! During this pandemic, I decided to take inspiration from him and got into gardening, though on a much smaller scale of course. It’s helped me immensely. Just one of many ways he’s impacted my life. Love ya, George. I hope you’re still gardening somewhere.
Roger Phillips: Ellie says, what do you think George would be most proud of, of his legacy?
Olivia Harrison: I don’t know. Probably the garden.
- George Harrison: Transcending The Beatles, University of Liverpool (30 Nov. 2020)
Querelle of Brest by Jean Genet with a cover photo by Roger Phillips. More Genet here.
NOTE: I highly recommend watching this if you have the time. Dr. Mike Jones is interviewed in the first half, and then Olivia Harrison comes in to answer a few fan questions. It’s really nice to listen to someone like Jones, who is clearly knowledgeable about George Harrison and Indian music. Olivia also gives important information about the upcoming All Things Must Pass anniversary release as well as what else could soon be released from the vaults.
UoLTube: “Join Olivia Harrison, award-winning author, film producer and widow of George Harrison, broadcaster Roger Phillips and Dr Michael Jones, Beatles expert and Lecturer in the Music Department at the University of Liverpool as they discuss the career of George Harrison, both as a Beatle and as a solo artist. They discuss George’s interest in Indian classical music and how his fascination for the music and spirituality of the Indian sub-continent profoundly influenced the direction of the Beatles music. They also consider George’s solo career, including George’s most successful album, ‘All Things Must Pass’, and his Concert for Bangladesh in 1971.” (30 Nov. 2020)
