Okay so yes, he was being reckless. And maybe he felt like he had already messed everything up to the point where he felt he didn’t have another choice. This was it, he was going to figure this out and he was going to figure out whoever it was that was working with his father. And after some hacking, hiding, and things that were probably not things that he should be doing, he had a plan. A pretty solid one too, an idea of where they were, and a letter written to Aria. Explaining everything, telling her how much he loved her, and how sorry he was for what he was doing. Honestly he gave himself a 50/50 chance of not dying, and in case he wasn’t able to deliver the message in person, he needed her to know. If he faced her now, it would just cause him to lose the courage of what he was trying to accomplish.
