The year was 1958, and it was Syd's first day of high school at a new place. He was a sophomore now, and he knew it was going to be tough for him to make new friends. There was almost nothing about himself that he liked, and he was almost certain that nobody else would like him either. His mother looked at him with a shake of the head, telling him he was just fine and that it would be easier than he thought. But she wasn't the one with the brain of a madman. As Syd arrived at school he could feel the eyes of everyone staring at him, burning into his self-esteem, causing it to shrink smaller and smaller until he had almost none of it left. Eyes filled with tears, he quickly made his way to his locker in hopes nobody will disturb him.
