The Dream - Roko Blažević Selection method: National final Has it been heard live? Yes Semi final # 2 Drawn: 10th

Croatia’s film takes place in a concrete bunker or at least a space made to look like a concrete bunker with a white piano. Mixed into the film are images of destruction; hurricane, flood, war, fire. Placing the boy in the bunker is apt seeing as there is all manner of hell happening outside and clearly he dreams of getting out to something more peaceful. 

Now, if you are in a concrete bunker trying to be protected from what is outside, you do not want a boy with a piano singing ‘The Dream’ on endless loop. The people in the bunker would eventually tear you apart or break the piano down. The song has images of a better life and away from the sad things of life and the film proposes this in a clear way. 

Finalist?: I hope not, but have a feeling it will.

Roko Blažević - Cry Me A River (Michael Bublé)

Amazingly talented and emotional young Croatian singer (18y old)! This was his first song in a Croatian singing competition RTL ZVIJEZDE 2018. He ended up placing 2nd (he already won 1st place in a Serbian singing competition when he was 16, so that affected a jury decision). He has excellent vocal, amazing emotional interpretation, he is modest and kind... he can take on the world. Hope he will get a recognition he deserves <3

How do you feel about Roko - Croatia this year? I think he is kind of cute, very innocent looking like Ari of last year 😊

Yeah, there’s a parallelism between the two of them… But if I tell you that I don’t like Ari at all (talking about physical aspect, while he seems a very friendly and easy-going guy), you’ll get how I feel about Roko…
