Joui4 in Gintama ep. 320: "Zura" (ヅラ)
I’m starting to think the rokuyou system might be connected to the symbolism on NGE. For one, the roaring success that was the attack on Israfel takes place on taian (a date mentioned prominently on Misato’s calendar) and Instrumentality takes place on tomobiki. According to EvaGeeks.org, Shinji’s and Kensuke’s birthdays take place on sekiguchi, Touji’s on butsumetsu, Kaworu’s and Asuka’s on taian. Not sure if those have meaning, but it seems other events that take place off-screen don’t correlate with the system, e.g. the Valentine Day treaty, ending the wars that took place after the Second Impact, took place on butsumetsu. Then again, other accounts exist too, so maybe the theory holds to some extent more.
