Lass Likes to Roleplay
I decided to make this post for no particular reason. I am actually full up to my ears on roleplays at the moment and am super lucky to have found some amazing people that are wonderful and need not pay any attention to this list because they are perfect. But for future reference and for just what's on in my mind right now, here you go:
My Roleplay Pet Peeves/Rules:
1.) People who make me feel like it's my job to entertain them.
I roleplay to have fun. It should be fun. If I am too stressed trying to write you a reply I am not having fun. Now, let me go in a little deeper on this issue because Roleplaying is a multi-person "sport" You are there to have fun, but you are also there for the people you roleplay with to have fun too. You do have some small obligation to the people you are writing with to give them something so they can in tern give you something. Which brings me to...
2.) People who don't communicate with me.
If you are not having fun you need to say something. Yeah, I might be a little disappointed if it's a thread or a story that I am really into, but I want you to have fun too and if you aren't we can work to change that! Or, if you just don't like my style, that's cool too. I can't promise that I won't take it personally, but I will understand. Not everyone has the same style and sometimes two styles don't mesh. THAT IS OKAY! You can be cool with a person and not like their style.
3.) People who are not flexible.
Most of my characters are not set in stone. They tend to evolve as I write them. This is especially true if I end up making a character specifically for a roleplay and they are brand new. I get ideas, I work something out about their personality, I change things up. I try not to change anything too drastic about their past, but I might reveal something later as something that explains a personality trait or reaction. This also means that sometimes a character doesn't end up exactly where I originally planned them to end up. That's what's fun! That's part of collaborative writing! If you want everything already laid out in stone, read a book or go write one by yourself! However...
4.) Don't abandon a plot.
If I make a character for you specifically, like as a want ad or something, I expect us to play out our plot. If you want to change something about it, you need to talk to me about it and communicate with me (see number 2) because otherwise I will feel like I wasted my time. I am all for plot changes and new ideas, but I don't like it when someone just up and twists my character out of a plot when that's the whole reason I created them in the first place. Really, this is just am extension of #2.
5.) Really, that's it.
I am easy to please. I can be very picky when it comes to writing styles. I usually know within the first few posts whether we will work together. But other than that, as long as you communicate with me, I am easy to keep happy. I understand everyone has a life outside this, I certainly am no exception. I tend to over share and talk a lot ooc, You don't have to if you don't want to. But I like to make friends through RP. In fact, some of my best friends in the world I met through roleplaying on the internet. But f you'd rather just write, that's cool! Just tell me what you're thinking and if you plan to be gone if you can. I will do the same! We'll have fun! :D
