That saying about good writing, "Don't say it. Show it." or something like that. We all assume that there's a lot of funny, awkward, sweet, weird D&C conversion going on in between plot points. This one is the funny, awkward, weird, sweet conversation. Such a lovely, low-key portrait of the relationship between them. One of my favourite fics ever.
