I saw Pokey LaFarge for the first time at ROMP fest this year in Owensboro, Kentucky. They play a roots-inspired mid-western folk that makes old and young folks tap their feet in unison. While eating supper, I had the opportunity to join a conversation involving the guitarist from the band -- the one that looks like Hyde from That 70's show! The festival, favourite bands, food trucks, family history, and Pokey Lafarge's upcoming tour were the topics of prominence. It made for a nice memory of the festival and allowed me to more fully understand the music I heard a few hours prior. Here is Pokey sharing his thoughts on American music, culture, mass media, domestic policy, and history at a TED conference in Saint Louis. Be sure to finish the lecture, because you'll hear "Central Time", one of their catchiest tunes, at the closing!
