The Flaming Lips “Clouds Taste Metallic” LP. This album has a few distinctions in my history. First, it is the most I’ve ever paid for an album ever. I got this 15 years ago, and still haven’t managed to spend as much on one single LP as I did this one. I just had to have this on vinyl. It helped me through some really bad times. “Lightning Strikes The Postman” still conjures a bit of residual pain. Secondly, it was the first record I played when we moved into our first home, The Beast. Thirdly, it is one of my all time favorite albums. This album was made for vinyl as there are so many layers, different needles and amps bring out different aspects. Also, if you ever get your hands on a spatial enhancer, listen to the second track, which is my favorite Flaming Lips song ever. It’ll tear your face off. The Flaming Lips "Transmissions From The Satellite Heart" LP. The Ronald Jones years will always be my favorite Lips era. That shit BLEW my mind when I was a kid and I still get great joy listening the albums he's on. Pop-noise at its finest! I still buy every new Flaming Lips album when it comes out, and generally enjoy them, but this is what I always come back to.
