Russian Robin takes Nancy to Moscow and there Nancy meets Robin’s real parents. Just about two seconds in the process of stepping in the aparentment and exchanging greetings, Robin’s mom asks Nancy in broken English if she is the one who keeps her daughter safe out there.
Nancy just about melts and struggles to nod but does, unable to keep up the cold shoulder she’s been giving Robin for months.
Robin shakes her head, looking down at the handwritten lines. “Are you sending me Emily Dickinson because she’s the only lesbian poet you know?”
“Well, I had to start somewhere”, Nancy grumbles, as if trying to sound annoyed and failing. “Getting into the culture is a slow process with a double major and a job”.
“Getting into the…” – she blinks, looking down at the paper – “…what?”

Anon, I just finished watching and - oof. So many thoughts that boil down to; All in all, the only thing I can say is that Vol2 was fine as a whole. They mindfucked the plot so much that it's just... fine. I felt very disconnected from the characters and their relationships so the lack of interactions left me a bit weirded out.
But about our dear girls;
• Vickie
HELLS YES Vickie is in the house! No real development, a bit of personality, a few cringy dialogs, BUT - but the crumbs are there and I NEED THE FIC WRITERS TO GET TO IT and write the rovickie heartfelt hug after this whole coming out scene (that I have weird thoughts about but sure, whatever, I guess it was also fine). Also how can I prove the Duffers read my Rovickie fic and then made her the team doctor?? HOW DO I PROVE I THOUGHT OF IT FIRST. Anyway, rovickie now have so much potential for Hurt/Comfort oneshots and THERE AREN'T MANY YET WHY WHY WHY

Oh Robin, baby, I couldn't stop looking at her during Will's coming out scene - Maya Hawke fucking nailed it this season! Ah, I wished there was like two or three interactions with Steve, you know? They didn't really exchanged a meaningful word or look in the entirety of vol2 and UGH the beauty of their friendship is missed. Loved how Robin has grown up and is so confident now. Again, Maya Hawke, I am on my knees.

This fucking idiot I swear to god I love this stupid asshole who shot the goddamn UFO blob on the sky??? Like babygirl, what the fuck, but also yes it absolutely tracks, very in character. Jancy breakup fUCK YEAH I enjoyed this so much it was so well written and acted and the characters were cared of even kinder than s4 had allowed that storyline to go. Single Nancy for the win! I hope they don't kill her in the finale, she has such a long way to go to find herself and live outside of war and guns and shit and REST, UGH I care about Nancy Wheeler so much.

They are so GOOD and had so much potential that the Duffers chose not to show!!! Id be so happy with just one (1) romantic interaction that needed to be down to Earth (wtf is the deal with Enzos they are gay in the 80s in a small town??? Vecna is less dangerous than what a fancy restaurant in the 80s is to gay people!!!) Wasted, wasted, wasted, potential I swear, JUST LOOK AT THE SCENE IN THE LANDRY ROOM both actresses showed how good they could have kept up if they had a better scenario and direction. UGH I HAVE TO WRITE SOMETHING FOR THEM NOW.

EPILOGUE TIMESKIPPED ESTABLISHED RONANCE COME HOME BABY
Again- the mindfuck of a plot ate the character dynamics and relationships the previous seasons had so nicely worked on. How great a conclusion would have been if we saw how the characters had now grown to be together in a new setting such as a quarantined Hawkins??? How beautiful would Ronance be as a partnership and friendship between these two in the middle of that??? With the Barb haunting their narrative in the background??? Chefs kiss. The care between them would have been gutwrenching I swear.
In conclusion, I feel like they decided to build such a mindfuck of a story in a single season that is basically an entire new show, only taking a couple of scenes as relevant from the previous ones. And the beautiful relationships between the characters suffered from it. Sad. Everyone go read halftime air on ao3, where I am still planning how the fuck they can firebomb the Mind Flayer.
