ronin doesn’t attach sentimental value to many physical things, only a select few
his crowbar, his skateboard (he’s a skater and a biker sue me), some polaroid pictures from over the years with angel, ther, and now you
and his beloved jacket
god that thing was old
and basically torn to shreds
there’s a hole in the bottom of the right pocket, and it always pisses him off when he puts something in there and it falls out
the left sleeve cuff has been rubbed so many times by his crowbar that it’s basically torn wide open (he’s also a lefty. SUE ME.)
there’s cigarette burns that made small holes on the sleeves
not to mention the HUGE rip in the back from when he crashed his skateboard a couple years ago
yep, YEARS. he refuses to get a new jacket (you don’t understand it, but okay)
you’re lucky the guy even cleans it, at least there’s not years (and hundreds of bodies) worth of blood caked on there.
it’s just a random hangout day, and ro is doing what he does best on hangout days
taking a fat fucking nap
you look over at his jacket, thrown across your chair
and in a split second decision, you’re up and grabbing sewing supplies from the hallway closet to fix it for him!
that’s a good girlfriend/boyfriend/partner thing to do, right?
maybe you’re not the best at sewing, maybe you’re a prodigy. idk man
you take some red and black spools of thread, a pin cushion with a few spare needles, and some old scraps of fabric and get to work on the living room couch
starting with the pocket, you gently see the seam back into the base of the jacket
then you patch the small cig burns on the sleeves, they’re tedious but you get it done
is this what a flow state feels like?
you make quick work of the rip on the sleeve cuff, making sure it’s not too snug and the stitches won’t pop when he puts his jacket on too quick.
dang, it’s actually starting to look like a normal jacket!
as normal as a serial killers jacket can get, anyway…
then you flip it over.
oh god
what have you gotten yourself into
the tear on the back is HUGE

you take a large piece of black scrap fabric, flip the jacket inside out, and begin to patch the GAPING hole in the back
if you’re fancy, maybe you can embroider some kind of design into the patch with red thread
for the sake of the fic i’m going to assume you’re fancy because it’s cooler that way :D
maybe the design is a skull, or something devil related, i dunno
but you somehow manage to finish the jacket before ronin wakes up…

you heard your bedroom door squeak open, and his feet padding against the floor and into the living room
he’s still half asleep
…until he sees you holding his precious jacket
“…if you fucked up my jacket i’m going to murder you.”
he takes it from your hands and looks over the front
damn, you actually killed that wtf
the stitches in the sleeves to patch the burn holes almost look like little black flowers, basically invisible, but he sees them
and then he turns to the back,
his jaw DROPS
the design on the back is so uniquely him, he almost cries
“you fixed it?”
“yea, it needed some TLC, thought i’d take care of it for you…”
“and you… did this design on the back?”
“mhm!” you nodded happily
he slinks the jacket over his broad shoulders, for once he’s actually quiet
he puts his hands in the pockets-
“you fixed the pocket!!”
you laugh and nod, matching the smile on his face
he looks like a kid in a damn candy store
“thank you, darling. this is amazing”
safe to say, he is NOT taking it off anymore.
not after his darling took their precious time making it so amazing for him
