Otakon: Day 2
Just had a dream last night where my degree came in the mail, but it said I had graduated as a Spanish major and I freaked out and went online and it said I had passed all these Spanish classes and I started crying because I didn't know any Spanish and how was I going to get a job as a math teacher without a degree in math. And someone was like, "you can be a Spanish teacher" and I just started sobbing and all I could think was "no hablo Español"

I tried my hand at writing fanfiction this weekend so here comes the result of that decision.
My Art Process!
I’ve had a couple people ask how I create my art. And I know I have about a dozen different styles that are always changing, but today I’m going to focus on my lineless art.
Step 1! Start off sketching!
Put your ideas down on paper! Sometimes it looks good on the first try, other times it takes a few tries! The picture above is about the 2nd - 3rd go for that comic strip. It started as a lot of little sketches in the side of a notebook, and I change them a little each time. And some of these “scenes” didn’t even make it into the final comic. A good base sketch is important, it can still be sketchy, but you should have an idea in mind of what you’re making before you start to color.
Step 2! Begin adding color!
These are blob colors for the most part. You’re just making sure that no two pieces next to each other are the same color, so they don’t blend together. You can see the colors I’m working with up in the top left corner. I always try to limit the number of colors I’m working with. Keep it simple and only add new colors when you really need them. Try keeping a “blob chart” and every time you use a new color, add it to your blob chart, try to use each color in at least three places, that way it doesn’t feel out of place (unless that’s the point!)
Step 3! Refine the colors! Add Backgrounds!
Add more detail, start straightening up the lines, making sharp edges, creating the rectangles which will define each picture. I draw a rectangle and erase everything that spills over on each layer until they all line up along that rectangle. Start playing with your background, you want to make sure the colors all play nice, but you don’t want anybody to disappear into the background. (This is also the part where I start adding a million diamonds!)
Step 4! Clean up!
Straighten up the lines, add the last of your details, play with the overall background colors. Keep it simple, I like very geometric shapes, straight lines, perfect circles. :) You can see a little perspective in the floor times behind Blue Pearl.
Just practice and you’ll do wonderfully!
HERE’S THE FINAL COMIC FEATURED IN THIS POST!
