I really like the idea that if Jellicle cats and Roof cats were in the same universe, they would look just slightly off for each other

They all look like cats and usually don't notice the slight differences

But there are things that make both group slightly uneasy when noticed

The way the others stand and move and react to things. How Jellicles seem lighter than air and always ready to leap, to dance, always fluid and smooth. How Roof Cats stand and walk like they expect the ground to be sloped and slick, always grouded, always ready to lunge and duck

How the patterns on others coats seem to change in a foreign way, jellicle stripes and patches appearing and vanishing and moving on their own, roof colours getting bright and neon and dipping back to grayscale in a blink, both sometimes thinking the others fur is setting in shapes it probably shouldn't be

How they sound, jellicles high and shrill, roof cats lower and flatter. Missing cues, mixing up words, wondering if the others are fighting when they talk amongst themselves

Just a little bit of magical and cultural shock

I've been kinda all over the place with when I think Grizabella would leave the tribe, mostly cuz on top of having Demeter, i have a heacanon that before Deme she had Tugger, making them half-siblings

And just recently I had a thought: what if she had Demeter after she left the tribe

She has Tugger and then leaves the Roof clan, leaving him behind and has Demeter while already living on the streets. So Demeter grows up with Griz, and whether Griz was a good mother or not, Deme remembers her time with her fondly

And then when Demeter's a teen they have a falling out or smth, which leads to Demeter leaving her mother, spending some time alone on the streets until she gets taken to the clan by some friends (probably the chaos twins)

And she is taken in, cuz they may have banned Griz from coming back, but Demeter's not her mother. She does want to get back in touch with Griz while everyone advises her to keep her distance

Then Deme meets Mac, and he uses that against her. He's handsome and charming, and she falls for him, but the thing that pushes her to leave the clan with him is that he promises he'll help her find her mother

Life happens, Demeter is back with the clan, and when the ball comes Griz tries to get back in too. And Demeter still wants her back, even with the clan's resistance
